Diana is a Roman goddess included in Roman mythology. She is the goddess of the woods, children and childbirth, fertility, chastity, the moon, wild animals, and occasionally, light.The name Diana means "heavenly, divine". Her Greek counterpart, Artemis, was a part of Greek mythology. She was originally the goddess of wild animals and hunting until one day she took over as the goddess of the moon who originally, Luna, another Roman goddess. Diana was worshipped by pregnant women, as for they could give a healthy child-birth. She had the power to talk to animals, control their movements and behaviors, and of course, was immortal. It was believed that she had a fair face like Aphrodite with a tall body, slim, small hips, and a high forehead. She was said to look like a beautiful young woman ranging from the ages 12 to 19. In artwork, generally she is shown with a quiver and a bow. She usually wears a short tunic, has her hair up and is barefoot. In some artwork she is found with a crown with a crescent moon in the middle. She is usually accompanied by a woodland creature such as a deer or a hound. One myth tells of when she was bathing in a river one day when a hunter, Actaeon, saw her. She was upset that he had seen her undressed, so she turned him into a baby deer and sent her hounds after him. Another myth tells of when she fell in love with the giant huntsman Orion. Her brother Apollo was worried that there was going to be a love affair, so he tricked Diana into a shooting contest.
