Introduction Week’s eight entry I have chosen article, “Researching Prisoner Experiences with Prison Officers: An Action-Research Inspired Approach.” This article focused on the research study conducted by researchers that involved three maximum-security prisons in England and their prisoners. The ignition force driven questioned, could there be a better type of relationship between prisoners and prison officers? This question was researched because there have been many prisoners who felt that the officers treat them unfairly with prejudice, because they are incarcerated. In another direction, the prison officers in turn, opposed that they do not use excessive force or any type of intimidation practices that would inadvertently affect their management with the prisoners. Method The method of this study was conducted to gain the ethnographic information from the prisoners with their take on the inmate experiences with prison officers in the prison where they were incarcerated. The study choices in gathering prisoner’s emotions and prison officer’s treatment with the prisoners could appear as bias. When you think about it, prison systems are in place for many reasons. To become an inmate, one most think of their behavior choices prior to becoming a prisoner. Moreover, to think the conduct prison officers must maintain to protect the prison facility. The prison system is a funny thing. I could appreciate what the researchers were attempting to do, but I do not think that the prison officers could really empathize with the prisoners all that much.
