The sport that I’m most familiar with is ice hockey. I know “diving” was the old call when a player is trying to get the attention of the referee, but currently it is called embellishment this call is made when a player is either trying to get the attention of the referee or exaggerating a possible infraction by the opposing team to gain an advantage. This call can be considered gamesmanship because this player is trying to get the referee to make an infraction call on the opposing team. This has become such a problem that the league has now made it so the player or coach get fined if this is called. This is more of an issue with society because the focus is on winning with any mean necessary. The game has certainly changed within my time of playing there use to be an player on every team that was consider the enforcer this player just was on the team to go after the top players or a player on the opposing team. This was used to get the spark back in the team before the game gets away from them or to protect the star player. This issue has faded with time and rule changes. All the good skills and values learned. The issues involved is winning isn’t everything, but some children develop bad hobbits depending on whom their mentor/coach is. I do believe if there is a good mentor/coach involved they will instill those good values onto the child, and they will continue that throughout life. I think the mentor/coach doesn’t need to just focus on the skills in the sport, but also make sure the young athletes has these good core values. I think the main thing you need to look at does the coach just care about winning or does he care about the child also. I believe we can improve these values like skills, but this has to be done at a very young age before they chose the wrong person to look up
