Fourth Meeting Reflection

The group gathered on the 7th of February at 12:00 p.m. to conduct our fourth meeting. Gerald Davis, Lily Perez, Melinda Rule, and Missy Vergason were all present. Tasks Accomplished • Missy Vergason inquired about the number of articles each person chose. Our prior meeting, each member agreed to have three articles for this meeting. Only Missy Vergason selected three articles. Gerald Davis, Lily Perez, and Melinda Rule have not selected their articles. • Missy Vergason mentioned that she found three empirical articles about inappropriate appearance in the workplace, but could not find many articles pertaining to how to address inappropriate appearance in the workplace. At our last meeting each member agreed these articles would be selected for this current gathering, which would allow for our progression to continue. My initial reaction was that we were slightly behind schedule as three out of the four members were not prepared. Additionally, I felt concerned that our progression would be hindered, and our presentation could be affected. However, each member agreed to have the articles selected and summarized by the following meeting. My reaction, after resolving this issue, is that our presentation will not be affected as our group is back on track with the three members selecting the articles for the next meeting. I believe this obstacle is now an opportunity because it gave Missy Vergason the idea to create a timeline of our desired completion dates for each task. This will assist the group in staying on schedule to ensure our presentation is informative and of highest quality. Career Research Presentation My progress has continued for my Career Research Presentation. I have read through each article extensively and have completed the summary for one of the articles due by Monday, February 12th. To receive feedback, I will submit an article summary by that date. I desire to be an expert in my field and I strive to transfer that into my life as I attend college classes. Being an expert, to me, means asking any questions to clarify confusion and mastering all material that will be included on an exam or in the field. I believe completing these tasks will aid in becoming an expert in my field and will contribute to finding a respected job. Therefore, I will complete the necessary steps to ensure I complete the professionalism goal. Additionally, my most professional behavior was maintaining my composure in a stressful situation. Specifically, a problem occurred with a colleague that could have prompted me to have a frustrated reaction due to its effect on the task’s progression. However, I remained at ease and proceeded to resolve the issue since confrontation would have compounded the time deficit. Therefore, by maintaining my composure, I was able to solve the problem in a prompt manner and swiftly refocus on the task. While I behaved professional this week, I had a moment when I was unprofessional. My least professionalism behavior was not wearing professional attire, leggings, to class. While the item appeared trendy, I desire to dress in professional attire as this shows my academic dedication.
