Prompt 4: Advice from Shakespeare’s Time There are many common phrases or pieces of advice several adults and parents say. These are not turn of the century sayings. When Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, roughly 400 years ago, he had Polonius advise his son, Laertes, about general knowledge Laertes should know. There are four sections of information from Polonius’s speech which are still relevant and widely used today. Polonius instructed Laertes to hang on to his friends once he found the true ones, to be wise with his money, to dress to impress, and to always be himself.
