60 percent of drug cartel revenue comes from the illegal U.S. marijuana market. As a result of the prohibition of marijuana, vicious drug cartels have been created across the border. The number of deaths caused by cartels have significantly increased so much that they surpass the amount of U.S troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. The Californian government is facing historic deficits that lead to factors which could destroy the economy. By controlling marijuana, Proposition 19 will help cut off funding to the cartels and decrease the amount of deaths caused by them as well as providing a new source of money for the government. Voting yes on Proposition 19 will ensure that all these problems are solved.

This argument, however, is utterly absurd. California faces historic deficits which could lead to higher taxes and fees for the public as well as more cuts to vital services if the state government does not balance the budget. There is 14 billion dollars worth of marijuana transactions every year in California, but none of that revenue is being taxed. Proposition 19 may cause billions of dollars in federal funding, but, it will enable state and local governments to tax marijuana, gaining even more money than the amount lost from federal funding.The State’s tax collector says taxing marijuana will boost our annual revenue thus, funding jobs, healthcare, public safety, parks, roads, transportation, and even schools for children's’ education. The people who oppose this claim want those in favor to think that the proposition will only be detrimental , but it will actually provide people with better needs and children with better
