Evidence - According to MotherJones.com, “there have been at least 69 mass shootings in the last three decades—and most of the killers got their guns legally.” 75% of the guns used for mass shootings are obtained legally. The information recorded of the details of the most recent mass shootings prove that they included firearms purchased from legal gun dealerships. Firearms can be obtained too easily and the absence of stricter firearm laws is the absence of safety in the U.S. b. The point of gun control is to make sure that it’s safe for citizens to purchase firearms, and prevent felons and people who are mentally ill from purchasing them. However without stricter rules/laws, anybody can purchase a firearm. Evidence - In 1989, California banned the possession of semiautomatic firearms prior to the massacre of five children. Stricter laws were made in order to prevent further massacres.
