Euthanasia should be permitted everywhere around the world because all individuals have the right to determine their future either by choosing death or the right to live. For instance, in the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck the companionship of Candy and his dog is very strong as they stay together all day long. Candy’s dog has become very old and weak in which he is forced to give up his life since he was no use. According to the text, “He ain’t no good to you, Candy. An’ he ain’t no good to himself.
Laurent and Chantel De Jesus want to convince their readers that it's not right to put animals down in shelters, and it should be against the law. They want to show the moral problems with euthanasia and suggest other ways to help with too many animals in shelters, so they don't suffer. In the article, Ava St. Laurent and Chantel De Jesus are the ones speaking. They share their thoughts and ideas about euthanizing animals in shelters, drawing from their knowledge, research, and personal beliefs. The author's tone in the article is convincing and passionate because they want to make readers feel empathy and emotional about the topic.
Euthanasia by definition is “the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, a person or animal suffering from an incurable, especially a painful, disease or condition.” (3) In animal euthanasia “The euthanasia solution is specially made to act quickly and painlessly but it must be administered intravenously.” (2) Euthanasia of animals is a process of putting them to sleep, albeit permanently, still putting them to sleep.
Not only do you help animals but you earn a good salary and get advanced schooling. Personally, I would never be able to put somebody’s pet to sleep. As a child I had the most amazing dog that anyone could ever ask for. She was 15 years old when we had to put her down and it was truly the saddest day of my life. I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone.
When I was little I had a dog named Zeus. Zeus was 13 years old whenever he had to be put down because it hurt him to walk. It got to the point were he didn’t want to eat because it took too much energy. My Mom always told me, “It was better for him to die because he was in too much pain.” Whenever someone ‘puts down’ and dog or an other animal it is actually called euthanasia.
Animals are great and make our lives better but when they are suffering and all we can do is extend their pain for a few months and pay thousands of dollars it just isn’t worth it. Americans nowadays spend money on tons of things that aren’t worth it, but spending thousands of dollars on dying animals is ridiculous. Furthermore, people even treat their animals as family like for example “Eighty-Three Percent refer to themselves to as their parents pet’s mom or dad” (The Last Meow). As a former pet owner I can say that it is ridiculous how people consider animals as their family and use that to justify spending thousands of dollars to keep them for a few months longer.
Of those 7.6 million animals 2.7 animals are euthanized or put down. Some animals are adopted and some are returned to their owners, but I still think that is a lot of animals, capable of being good companions being put down. What I think is a very important fact is, “the cost of spaying or neutering a pet is less than the cost of raising puppies or kittens for a year”(aspca.org). On a lot of articles I read that a big problem is pet overpopulation, which is also a BIG reason there are kill shelters, leading to my next
Most people would never contemplate whether or not to end their family pet’s suffering, so why can’t people be as sympathetic to their family and friends? In today’s society, the legalization of physician-assisted suicide is one of the most debatable topics. The debates on physician-assisted suicide go back and forth between whether or not patients, specifically terminally ill patients, should have the right to die with the aid of doctors. Opponents believe physician-assisted suicide is morally and ethically wrong for patients to end their lives, and they believe it violates basic medical standards. However, proponents of physician-assisted suicide believe it is a humane and safe way for terminally ill patients to resolve their agony.
Steven Hawking, the British physicist asked “We don't let animals suffer, so why humans?” The controversial issues of euthanasia started from 5th Century BC. The Hippocratic Oath prohibited physicians give a lethal drug to anyone, not even if asked for. However, most ancient Greek or Roman physicians ignored. They supported for voluntary euthanasia as opposed to prolonged pain.
It is mainly concerned the consequences of the actions. When the animals are severely ill which they may in pain or the healthy animals which stay in a shelter where the conditions are poor and lack of care from the providers. Euthanizing the animal requires a shorter time of suffering. Severely ill and overpopulation are a long term problems, the care provided to the sick and abandoned animals are time consuming. Therefore, people with the utility view believe animal euthanasia is right and euthanizing the animals produces the greatest happiness and benefits to
A lot of people will disagree with me especially the ones who work at shelters like that, people are making money off of animals death and any humane person would know that that's wrong. Putting an animal down because they are severely sick and just putting one down because you can't take them anymore are two different things and i agree with putting an animal down if they are sick but why put a healthy pet down when they are
Euthanasia is an act putting the animal’s death painlessly and do not show any signs of distress. The word ‘euthanasia’ is a board term in veterinary area which applies to healthy animals and terminally ill animals. Animals should have their rights and they should deserve the same way as humans because there is no difference
Zoos have been around since the eighteenth century. A zoo is defined as a compound where wild animals are kept for viewing and studying. The purpose of a zoo is mainly for education and protection, preserving animal species that are either at a risk of becoming extinct or for increased collection size (Jamieson). Animals from around the world have been enclosed in an area where we can admire and study these fine creatures. However, many modern zoos around the world have introduced animal shows, petting and feeding sessions to attract more visitors in order to earn more money.
There are many forms of euthanasia. Whether it’s active or passive, voluntary or non-voluntary, most of these forms are illegal in almost every country in the world. Passive euthanasia is refusing treatment and allowing illness or injuries kill you, however active euthanasia is what I’m going to talk about today. It generally consists of injecting a lethal chemical composite dose into the bloodstream that is meant to end your life in the most painless way possible. We live in a world that has opposing viewpoints on this subject; there are those who view it as homicide, and others who view it as the most sincere form of human compassion.
The problem with that is there are always places that you can put your animal that will not kill it because the shelter is overpopulated. Euthanizing an animal just because a shelter is overpopulated is not a reason. If an animal really loves you then why would you want to kill it just because you can not keep it anymore? This is not a good enough reason to kill an
