Persuasion in DodgeBall TDA Response Persuasive techniques such as Logos, Ethos, and Pathos help support and state his claim in the text. In the two articles, “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education.” and “The weak shall inherit the gym.”
Starting off in the first paragraph the author uses logos to show how he feels about the subject of the article. He explains that “dodgeball [is] outlawed by some school districts in New York, Texas, Utah, and
Youths should not be banned from participating in sports such as dodgeball, cheerleading, and football. To begin with, dodgeball teaches physical and mental education. According to the text, ”Rick Hanetho, founder of National Amatuer Dodgeball Association said,” It teaches hand-eye coordination, concentration, and to draw quick conclusions” (171). This proves that youths shouldn’t be banned from dodgeball since it teaches them at a young age and it teaches mental and physical lessons. As for cheerleading, youths shouldn’t be banned because the coaches are trained and certified.
This use of a personal experience does not uphold as solid factual evidence, as it does not concern the majority of people. To put it a different way, this story is specific to author Reilly’s personal experience, and does not provide any factual evidence that would support Reilly’s claim that dodgeball should be included in kindergarten through twelfth grade physical education curriculum. In contrast, NASPE uses sound statistical evidence
OUCH! I strongly disagree. Recently school principals banned dodge ball at schools in Elk ton, Maryland. They banned it because the teachers thought it was violent and inappropriate. The principals banned it by taking it off the curriculum.
DodgeBall Across all of Elkton Maryland, recently some troubled Principals are banning the famous and fun game of...dodgeball. Dodgeball, and all of its relatives, like Slaughter and JailBreak, because they are “against everything we teach here” or that it was “inappropriate”. They are taking everything we live for as kids, going and ripping the good stuff right out the curriculum, leaving us with “safe and friendly” games instead of the fun games. Alright really, dodgeball is a very fun game.
Some people at Webb City High School would be very angry to find out that they will no longer be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities due to their grades. The students who really want to play sports though would get into gear and get their grades up to prove that they deserve to play. What is a School without education? Pointless. Other people in the community believe that the “C rule” is not fair for the people who do not participate in any extracurricular activities because they will not be being punished.
Dodgeball should be banned from physical education. In dodgeball, it's set to be the weak vs. the strong typically. The article ‘’Position on Dodgeball..’’ states, ‘’Many times these students who are eliminated first are also the ones with the least amount of confidence
I agree with the everything that the school said and I think that dodge ball should be removed. Using kids as targets is not ok! Dodgeball is a game where you are supposed to have two teams and try to avoid getting hit by balls thrown by the other team. However, kids do not always
If much interest does not come back from a certain sport or a certain gender, the school does not have to add any sports to their programs. However, in the sports that have been established, they are obligated to continue following the rules of Title
Dodge Ball The game of dodge ball has became an concern all over the world. This is because principals in Elkton Maryland, New Hampshire have recently banded dodge ball from their physical education curriculum. They decided to do this because dodge ball was inappropriate and against what they were trying to teach not to bully. Many principals have now considered banning it too.
Also they banned it because they think it is inappropriate and is not aligned with the values taught in school. Principals removed it from the physical education curriculum which I think is over the moon ridiculous .I think they should not ban dodgeball. I think the principals should not ban dodgeball because dodgeball is as fun as a fair. The ban ruins the fun of life, and eliminates the wisdom and joys that comes from games.
The committee recommended eliminating the game, and others, including prison ball, slaughter, and bombardment. The committee banned dodgeball because kids were “bullied” in a game of dodgeball. In Elkton, Maryland, school principals have decided to ban the traditional game of dodgeball from the district’s physical education program. The school board in Windham voted 4-1 last week to remove the game
Sport in high school shouldn’t be taken away because it allow new students to make friends a lot easier. If we didn’t have sports in schools then there wouldn’t be professional sports anymore because the kids won’t be able to practice and not every kid has money to buy a ball or net and basketball hoop. It helps the student’s grades in classes because if they have low grades in one class they can’t play the sport so they try their hardest to raise the grade so they can play the sport. This is why I think they shouldn’t take away sports in high schools.
Most schools in the US offer interscholastic competitive activities for students to participate in. Competitive activities give participants and spectators a chance to rally together and support their school district. In addition to showing support to their school, athletes are provided with physical activity and several other opportunities they would not be given otherwise. Schools should keep interscholastic competition. It is expensive to maintain extra-curricular activities.
