Identify a problem or need
Gasoline is a toxic liquid that has become one of the most significant sources of energy, nevertheless, it is nonrenewable. As humans, one of our many responsibilities is to find ways to reduce the consumption of this fossil fuel.
Mixers use a lot of gasoline to operate and cannot be afforded by many people, specifically in rural areas.
Imagine – Research the problem or need, Brainstorm Ideas, evaluate pros and cons.
The Cipsa mixer operates with a gasoline engine. The capacity of the engine’s tank is 5 liters, and consumes 1 liter per hour when operating. A mixer is approximately operated 6-8 hours each day, therefore, if the mixer is used every day it has a longevity of 24-30 months before you have to refurbish the machine. In the United States approximately 10,000 Cipsa mixers are sold every year. …show more content…

*All of number provided below are approximate

7 x 261= 1827
(Average number of hours that a mixer is operated each day) x (work days in one year) = hours that a Cipsa mixer is operated in one year, and thus number of liters that it consumes because it uses1 liter per hour)

1827 x 10,000= 18,270,000
(Number of liters consumed by a single Cipsa mixer in one year) x (number of mixer sold in the United States every year)
Approximately 18,270,000 liters of gasoline are consumed by Cipsa mixers every year in the United States.

Idea for reducing this consumption: Using a bicycle to mix cement.

Pros:
• Construction will become more available for rural communities.
• In rural communities, people often use shovels to mix their cement, and using the Bici-Mix will reduce the time required to mix cement.
• People can install the equipment to their own bicycles.
Cons:
• Finding an easy way to make the wheel of the bicycle rotate a mixer
