The Unites States is by far in a better position since the passage of the Homeland Security Bill of 2003. This bill has strengthened and fortified our borders to ensure we are never attacked again like were on September 11, 2001. “There have been a number of planned attacks that have been prevented on U.S. soil and abroad within the past several years” because of the Homeland Security Bill that was put into place (Keefer, 2017). This act vetted a lot of agencies and brought them together in order to make our country much safer than it ever has been. The combing of 22 federal agencies into one new cabinet level department as well as creating four new divisions was the biggest federal reorganization since the creation of the Department of
During the brutal attack called 9/11, four planes got hijacked by terrorists. One hit the the Pentagon, another one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, and the last two hit the World Trade Center towers in New York City. Thousands of lives died that day due to the attack, but many have asked , “Could they have been saved?”In fact, they did not even need to be saved, it could have been prevented all together. The intelligence agencies FBI, CIA, NSA were partially responsible for not stopping the attacks.
The presidential car was designed from the ground up by the Secret Service, President Barack Obama 's $1.5 million "Cadillac One," aka "THE BEAST," is so secure that even when is moving is a fortress impenetrable by bullets and bombs. The president is so well protected that he has 12 identical limos in rotation and, when not in use, they 're parked in the basement of the Secret Service 's headquarters and are under 24-hour surveillance. The Secret Service are the only one allowed near them, that’s how protected they are with the president on
The Patriot Act is one of today’s most controversial laws. The law’s official name is the USA PATRIOT Act, which stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act. The law was passed in 2001 after the September Eleventh terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The act greatly increased the power of the government in preventing terrorism, but it also increased the amount of surveillance that the government performs on citizens.
The moment that the Twin Towers fell in New York, America became destined for change. In the wake of these attacks, the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 was quickly passed through congress, and signed by then-president, George W. Bush. The act itself gives the FBI and other government agencies the ability to do and use certain methods, many of which are already used by other law enforcement organizations, to help prevent future terrorist attacks. Since then, this piece of legislation has been the center of much debate and controversy. But, there is ample reason to believe that the Patriot Act is needed and effective.
The Act was designed to preserve the safety of America from any other terrorist attacks and to not allow another ambush to happen within the United States. After the aggression which took place on September 11th, 2001, there was a great fear in the American people. The ratification of the Patriot Act was the government’s approach of trying to prevent any forms of terrorism in our country. Another positive that thing that came with the Patriot Act was the recognition of technology and how technology usage is growing at a rapid pace.
In 2010, Arizona S.B. 1070 was an anti-illegal immigration law that was passed to focus on identifying, prosecuting, and deporting undocumented immigrants. Arizona’s law enforcement officials could detain anyone who was suspected of living in the country illegally. The law also made it a state misdemeanor crime to for an alien to not carry registration papers and people in the country illegally to solicit work. But, Arizona S.B. 1070 was charged with violating the federal Supremacy Clause by enacting its own immigration enforcement laws instead of following federal regulations; violating the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment by denying minorities their equal protection of the laws; violating the 1st Amendment by scrutinizing minorities
Are you a dreamer? Do you know of a dreamer? Do you know the struggle of being undocumented? If you answered no, then let me tell you about sanctuary cities and immigration in our country. Specifically, I’ll tell you about the motivations behind sanctuary cities, the risks in becoming a sanctuary city, and the places with the highest deportation numbers.
The second assumption is that Smith has radicalized and planned an attack without anyone noticing. This would not be without precedent, however, we fortunately see failure in this category more often than success.
I totally agree with you! After 9/11, which I might add was the most tragic event ever in the U.S, had to make something in order to counter-attack this horrible terrorist attack. Their solution is to seek any terrorist from within. I mean sure, it’s a great idea as you think about it but there are negatives and they are HUGE!
“The Monkey’s Paw” Writing Brishna Momand “The Monkey’s Paw” is a famous example of a classic horror story. First off, it presents a gloomy, dark atmosphere outside. The first sentence of the story states, “Without, the night was cold and wet...” This already gives the readers a sense that the outside world is very dangerous, and is a place you would not want to be--- It’s an unprotected place where horror comes from. But, the atmosphere changes as we’re taken to the White’s house, where it’s the exact opposite.
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allows U.S. intelligence agencies to acquire foreign intelligence information by monitoring foreign persons in the USA and abroad. This act ensures that intelligence agencies can respond in time to terminate a security threat. The most important part of this act, the Section 702 forbids deliberate monitoring of US citizens and their communication. Technically NSA has been violating this act ever since it has been enacted in 2008 because, as we know, they have been monitoring all US citizenry.
I believe that there should be a homeland security majors in colleges. Although I think it should be more of a major that requires many different classes to receive. I believe it should be a mix of criminal justice classes, and classes that are focused on topics in homeland security. Such as terrorism, natural hazards, and domestic terrorism classes should be required for the major. That way students are learning more than just the normal criminal justice classes, they have classes that focus on things that homeland security deal with.
Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S.A. and become citizens because they are heavy workers, want a better life and most importantly they contribute to the U.S. economy. Immigrants simply want to obtain an opportunity to live and work in this great country. With all this in mind it is clear that they deserve a path to citizenship. Countless people say illegal immigrants are damaging the U.S. economy; however, they are contributing immensely by paying their taxes.
The Castle Doctrine should not have any special circumstances that restrict the home owner from using self-defense. In Springfield, Oregon, a mechanic went into a small restaurant, walked up behind a man eating, and shot him in the back of the head. The mechanic believed the man had threatened his daughter. The mechanic was not persecuted; he was protected by the Castle Doctrine. Some state’s
