Research Proposal about Income Security policy for the Disabled

1. Research question
I will try to compare the policies of Sweden and Korea in relation to income security of the disabled. By comparing similarities and differences between the both countries’ policies and their outcomes, I want to analyze the pros and cons of existing policies and find future research themes. Personally, I decided to choose this theme based on my work experiences as a civil servant.
2. Brief overview of the subject and explanation of why it is important

And there are some benefits in medical expenses, tax and using public utilities.(Ministry of Health and Welfare, 2015). However, as the rate of the disabled who have public pension right is rather low compared to the major developed countries, the income security level is a little low(Shin, 2013).
On the other hand, the core of the welfare system for the disabled in Sweden is "equality and rights" as described in the Social Services Act. In Sweden, the disabled can practically live with disability pension, various allowances(Geurts, 2011).
Basically, Sweden emphasizes the role of the state in welfare policies compared to Korea, so it seems that the paradigm of policy between the two countries is different. However, it can be meaningful in not only understanding the different welfare regime for the disabled but also finding policy implications to compare the similarities and differences of between both countries’ policy in the following categories concretely.
