How can we make college more affordable?

Everyday kids or adults are trying to come up with a way to pay for college. Many people think that there is not a solution to coming up with an affordable and available way for them to go to college. There are plenty of options to pay for college, including little scholarships that you can sign up for that add up if you get enough of them. Although there are many different problems with college affordability, I believe that there are multiple ways for college to be available for you, you just have to find the path that fits you. The students all compete to get into the biggest and best colleges. Because of the students that create and increase intense competition, congress rose the prices on education. Now that more students are wanting to make more money, they all know college is the best way to do so. With congress knowing that students are wanting to further their education, they decide to increase the tuition. “A common practice is to review the tuition levels of similar colleges in other states” (Losing Ground). The state compares each college average tuition to one another and then raises one of their choice. A solution to this problem would be to make the food and books free or included in with the tuition, because these students are having to pay to go learn and advance their education. Another way for the student to save money is to rent their books and use the meal plan at the school, even though they probably would still need to buy more food throughout the week. “The student will have to buy personal care items, do their laundry, maybe buy new clothes, and more” (10 Way to). Not only do the students have to pay for tuition, food, books and housing, they have to buy personal items. Depending on what classes the student takes, it might require them to pay extra to purchase the software needed to take that specific
