Obama’s “Un-America”: In 2008 people voted for hope and change, but is that really what the American citizens received? Many promises were made by this community organizer, but were they truly kept? His three important promises were cutting the national debt in half by the end of his first term, redistributing wealth from the rich to the poor among citizens to create jobs, and providing insurance to all people through his legislation Obama Care. Six years later, these promises are still not carried out. America’s economy is on the verge of collapse, thousands of jobs have been lost, and the national debt is close to double what it was when he took office. Six years later and the national debt has increased from $10,626,877,048,913.08 to $17,618,599,653,160.19(Jeffrey). Jeffrey goes on to say, “The $17,687,136,723,410.59 in debt the federal government had accumulated as of the end of July equaled $153,671.57 per household. Obama’s budget increases government spending from $2.983 trillion to $3.796 trillion in 2008 through 2012, which is the highest spending in history (Ferrara). This is an unbelievable fact and a scary route that America is on. An ordinary citizen is not allowed to spend more than he or she makes and be successful. So, the federal government should be held to the same standards. Huckabee states, “You can’t spend what you don’t have; you can’t borrow what you can’t pay back.” The Obama administration does not seem interested in lowering government spending and decreasing the national debt. Instead, he continues to ask congress to borrow from other countries and spend more money. One bill that Obama proposed was a stimulus plan which increased spending by about one trillion dollars. This is the largest spending law in history, except for Obama Care. The Obama white house has increased spending in federal programs and many other things just for the government to become more powerful and in control of peoples’ lives. The 1.6 trillion dollar law, Obama Care, has more people uninsured and has caused health care premiums to increase tremendously. His philosophy to tax the rich to give to the poor through redistribution of wealth has burdened all people with new taxes and new regulations. More than 15 million Americans have been placed on food stamps since Obama took office and 35.4% of people are on some form of welfare (Jeffrey). This is causing the federal government to have more control over the average person. Finally, he has added over 7 trillion to the national debt and has increased spending from $2.983 trillion to $3.796 trillion dollars (Ferrara). This promising candidate has been an ultimate failure and disappointment from all ends of the spectrum. America was in need of change, but change for the better, not the worst. Obama’s philosophy about big government simply does not work. America should be upset with this administration and should be ready to make a positive change in
