Pros And Cons Of Satellite Radio

Americans the past few years have started switching to satellite radio whether it is Sirius or XM radio. More cars now are being built with satellite as a feature and buyers usually can test it out for free the first three months of the cars life. Both of these types of radios are around because of investors ( Vivian, 2013, pg.57). Even though there are many different pros and cons to satellite and local radio, people have their own preferences that don’t seem to change. Personally, the pros outweigh the cons of using satellite radio. I am so used to using it that when I do get in a car without it, I don’t know any local radio stations and just end up scrolling through the stations for the whole ride. All three of these stations seemed to have the same commercials which wasn't all that surprising. There is always a bunch of advertising for laser hair removal, hotels, IHeartRadio, eye surgery, and local areas around central Ohio. I don’t believe that these stations are straying to manipulate their audience into thinking it is produced locally. I have heard commercials saying that they were funded by a certain company or by community foundations ( Vivian, 2013, pg. 64). By the way they talk and the fact that they know what is going on around Ohio, makes me believe that they actually are being recorded in Central Ohio. The morning shows seemed like they were live recordings since they have traffic updates around the Columbus area but the afternoon and evening recordings seemed to have been pre-recorded.
