Everyone agrees that crime is bad and we need to help prevent it. Each state that has Capital Punishment has its own criteria. Of the approximate 22,000 homicides committed each year, only 100 or less get chosen get put on death row (Death Penalty Focus). The people who get chosen aren’t even the majority of the ones who committed the worst crimes. Cases without death penalty cost $740,000, while cases where death penalty is sought, cost $1.26 million. A lot of people end up getting a smack on the hand and end up getting put in jail for some time. Today, Capital Punishment is only used for rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, murder, larceny, and perjury. The problem is, it is only used in certain cases, and not in all. “If a man lies with a man as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death, then blood is upon them.” (The Holy Bible ESV, Leviticus 20:13) Capital Punishment should be used on everyone who is put on Death Row. They should not have to wait for however many years, and end up dying in the prison. The convict(s) should be executed immediately. The people of the United States shouldn’t be able to pick and choose who they want executed. Third, the Bible states that capital punishment should be used under certain circumstances, those including murder, homosexuality, prostitution and rape. “Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.” (The Holy Bible ESV, Exodus 21:12) Here, it states that man shall be killed for murder. Since 1977, the majority of Death Row defendants (77%) have been executed for killing whites, even though blacks make up half of homicide victims, It does not matter what race, or gender you are.
