I believe that the idea of the Harm Principle can be applied to this issue in order to decide whether marijuana should be legalized. First of all, the government must analyze the medical and scientific data regarding the components of marijuana and determine whether it causes people more harm than good. As many studies have shown, however, the use of marijuana does not cause any serious health problems for people who use it. Nevertheless, there is also evidence that illustrates some health issues that can arise from marijuana, but alcohol is completely legal and has been proven to produce health problems.
