Universal Coverage Health Policy Proposal One of the most significant issues that continue to affect Americans is inadequate access to healthcare. Despite the US being one of the most developed countries with the largest economy, its citizens still face issues accessing quality healthcare services (Galvani et al., 2022). In spite of the recent passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), most minorities and other vulnerable populations face multiple barriers to accessing healthcare services (Keisler-Starkey & Bunch, 2020). In the policy, all the citizens will contribute towards the healthcare services through increased value-added tax. It eliminates the previous barriers where only certain individuals were eligible for government coverage. In this new proposal, universal coverage will protect everyone, making the government solely responsible for the citizens' medical care costs (Irvine et al., 2013). Under the new policy proposal, every American citizen will be covered by the government fully (Garfield et al., 2020). This is because, despite the current funding approach, the new policy will also utilize the goods and services tax to collect additional resources to ensure everyone is covered despite their diverse background. Thus, it will increase the eligibility of individuals for government insurance programs to include more low-income households. Currently, there is underfunding of the healthcare system, a condition that has excluded some living below the poverty line. These conditions have made most people suffer as they cannot afford healthcare services. However, with the new policy, the government can collect more resources to cover all the citizens. The resources will also be used to build hospital settings in regions where they are insufficient to ensure that despite the economic status of the people, all Americans receive the same quality healthcare
