Because of the ever-evolving world, leadership styles have also changed. Transformational is still a strong style, but added to this is a new genre of leadership including esthetic, ethical and spiritual. These are targeted towards morals and values and can be used in effort to inspire followers to be actively engaged in the company and go beyond the needs of their employment. Theorist argue that “these contemporary theories fill gaps in the leadership literature by expanding into areas of emotions, inspiration, and morality.” (Spector, 2014) We can expect for the qualities that define a strong, positive leader to continue evolving.

As an associate, there are always ample amounts of training opportunities, movement up the corporate ladder by in-house promotions, and even tuition reimbursement. Their benefit package is quite nice as well with a bank account, insurance, free food where cafeterias are located, 401K and stock. They have been named as one of the best companies to work for and scaling the charts on customer service and satisfaction. They employ students, elderly, race, and are unbiased to gender. They promote equality and as an example, last year the company targeted it towards gender. Before Florida passed the same-sex law this year, Publix announced that when legally married, the couples would be eligible for benefit plans. (Mann Jr., 2015) This step toward gender equality emphasizes Publix’s mission. The have an Associate Relations team that “works proactively to prevent inappropriate practices or violations of law or Publix policy. They also conduct training, administer management tests, and monitor progress of diversity initiatives.” (Publix, 2014) Having qualities that pursue equality is not only a step forward for the organization, but also to Publix’s followers. They are setting an example for other organizations. This is not to say that they haven’t overcome these obstacles. Only a short time ago Publix was allegedly accused in discriminating against gays, and because of the uproar, the company decided to keep up with the times and offer this policy for gay and lesbian
