This date marked the declaration of the war against the Axis powers. “For many African Americans, the war offered an opportunity to get out of the cycle of crushing rural poverty. Blacks joined the military in large numbers, escaping a decade of Depression and tenant farming in the South and Midwest.

When investigating my question, what were the politics that started the first Crusade, I had to utilize a couple methods that historians use when investigating a topic. Those methods used by historians are the heuristic method, which is the identification of a source's relevance to a topic, and criticism; an evaluation of the values and limitations one's resource possesses. I used the heuristic method when searching for relevant material to use in my investigation, leading me to scrutinize resources used in my paper. I, also, used criticism when I evaluated my primary resources in the first portion of this investigation. Personally, I think scrutiny is important because it keeps the investigation honest.
Based on my experience, multiple perspectives of literature exist through the application of critical
College is an important and new experience for many people including myself. Coming into college I think a lot of people have small mindsets including myself towards what takes place. As Robert Frost said “we come to college to get over our little mindedness.” I agree with statement currently being a freshman in my first semester of college. College in general is a life changing experience that comes with a lot of life lessons.
The biggest challenge in writing literature reviews is not being sufficiently critical. This is a challenge because only summarizing what you read is not enough. It is about providing a detailed justification for your research. Ultimately, Cone and Foster on page 103 state, “synthesize the information into a coherent review that highlights the main themes, strengths, and weakness of the work.”
I need to demonstrate my ability to understand, identify appropriate material to read and understand. Construct an effective argument and arrive at well-supported conclusions. Reviewing critically means thinking carefully and clearly and taking into consideration both the strengths and weaknesses in the material under review. Literature Influencing the Future Perfect World Literature is like a piece of bread, and the reader a toaster: once the bread meets the toaster, it is never the same again. Some of the many authors who are the “bread” are Anne Bradstreet in the poem “Upon the Burning of our House July 10th 1666”, Thomas Jefferson writing The Declaration of Independence, and Benjamin Franklin when he writes his autobiography “Moral Perfection”. The primary reason of the authors creating this “toast” is to influence the future because the authors wish to create a non problematic world and change readers forever like the toaster changes bread forever. The authors light up the idea by putting in their own ideas, but also ideas from other literature.
