How does How To Read Literature Like A Professor applies to every piece of literature? This novel is written by Thomas Foster and he gives the better understanding on many things, including patterns, symbols, and other literary devices. He helps the reader to gain knowledge on how to recognize each small detail of the story. This novel makes the connection with The Scarlet Letter and makes it easier to comprehend. The Scarlet Letter is written by Nathaniel Hawthorne; this novel is about Hester Prynne, who is a young and beautiful woman and committed adultery with town’s minister, Reverend Dimmesdale.
08/21/2017 I will have to plan a weekly schedule, make informed choices, and use different learning styles to achieve this. I will implement reading strategies that we learned about in unit 3.2. 08/21/2017 I will experiment with the SQ3R reading system. I will find a quiet place to read. By reading “How to Read Literature like a Professor” and “The Kite Runner”, the reader is aided in his or her ability to understand the true meanings behind the text. One is able to decipher how the act of coming together to eat can mean anything from a simple meal with family, to an uncomfortable situation that leads to anger or stress in an individual character. The reader is able to understand the use of rain or other weather in a novel to transform the mood and tone of scene, or understand the cleansing or destructive qualities that weather may have on the overall plot of the story. In the beginning of Chapter ¬15 of How To Read Literature Like A Professor, Thomas C. Foster first introduces the very known fact that humans cannot fly. So if a human is able to in a piece of literature, it belongs to the categories he lists later on. However, the categorization is an superficial analyzation of flying. He introduces the history of flying and how humans have strived to defied the laws of gravity forever. Foster analyzes Morrison’s Song of Solomon and explain how when Solomon flew off to Africa it is an act of returning “home” and “casting off the chains of slavery on one level”(Foster 92).
Countless children's stories and fairytales begin with the infamous phrase, “Once Upon a Time.” Nadine Gordimer stylistically chose to employ this phrase as her title for her thematic short fiction tale to ironically explore controversial subjects. This strategic choice utilized the “childish elements” of young literature, such as the, “wicked witch,” to convey underlying messages of fear and racism. In Thomas Foster’s, “How to Read Literature like a Professor,” the strategy of “stealing” ideas and elements from four main literary sources, children’s literature included, was discussed. Gordimer pulled from these stories, shown explicitly in the title, to create irony by conveying modern, political ideas and issues in our society through “innocent” plot elements.
Was there any time you wanted to take a risk, but were either too scared, or maybe when you did want to take a risk and you did it, but it didn't work out as you wanted it to? Or you may have taken a risk and it ended perfectly for you. When it comes to risks people do them daily especially when it comes to things such as getting treated unfairly or wanting to be dedicated to doing something. Some people have even made history by taking one of the biggest risks like, going to space, or escaping slave masters, or it can even be by learning. The authors used many different methods of media to explain to the reader about their story and took major risks and small risks.
The novel The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros was a fictional novel written in 1984. This novel shows the struggle of a young girl named Esperanza who was trying to mature to quick. Esperanza is a twelve year old girl who began to lose her innocence because she was trying to mature before she was meant to. The main conflict was Esperanza began to act like an adult, but yet she was still just a young girl, and because of her actions she experienced a loss of innocence. Through the use of syntax, Cisneros portrays the message that trying to mature too early will result in loss of innocence.

In my opinion the key dispositions for a successful reading specialist are: be good leader, love and passion for teaching, caring attitude, excellent communicator, proactive rather than reactive, and always strives to be better. The job of a reading specialist and teachers are similar in many ways, however there are some differences. The reading specialist have more responsibilities by leading the school literacy program, working close with administrators, advising , assisting teachers and engaging parents in the literacy process. Also, they need to promote reading motivation incentive programs for the school. In addition seeking out professional development opportunities for themselves, literacy coaches also train teachers in their schools.
After that, I know that reading is not to finish referring new words but to learn its profound meaning, or the reading will be dull and boring. Why do I want to attend college? College is an honorary achievement and it separates the determined from the undetermined. Owning a college to degree is an honor and an ecstatic feeling. Through college, that job is that much closer in the grasp. Through college, a person can perform at an elite level and really push themselves for greatness.
Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult.
My experience as a reader isn 't as extraordinary as many, but I love to read. I had some great teachers throughout my education that taught me to enjoy reading challenge oneself and not be intimidated by it. Through college and today I do not have much time to read, other than school books speech, education ,and reading. Those are the sweet books I know read.
