The Holocaust was a devastating event that had outreaching effects on many groups of people and many countries. Although most of this devastation happened to the Jewish Race. There are many books, movies, memoirs, and academic journals regarding the Holocaust, portraying how it affected different people and their stories. One memoir that will be discussed is Night written by Elie Wiesel about his life during the Holocaust. Also a movie by the name of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas will be discussed.
The boy in the striped pajamas comparative writing In class we read and watched ‘the boy in the striped pajamas’, a novel about WW2. Both, the book and the movie have many similarities, however they also have their own elements that make them their own. For example, they tell the same story, yet they are still different. In this document, I will be explaining the differences of the characters, events, additional details and the ending between the book and the movie. CHARACTERS
Families being torn apart, being ripped from everything they’ve known growing up and being isolated within a camp where no one truly knows what’s happening to them. That’s what was going on in the life of the Jews during WWII, they were being treated as if they were no longer human, being tossed in concentration camps and given just a number completely taking their identity away. The atrocities that occurred during the Holocaust are being subtly portrayed in the movie “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas,”directed by Mark Herman, a story told in the eyes of an eight year old boy named Bruno and his unlikely friendship with a Jewish boy named Shmuel. The movie tells the story of how a young boy begins to realize what kind of solder his father truly
History Accuracy on The Boy in the Striped Pajamas The Boy in the Striped pajamas by John Boyne is about a nine year old boy, Bruno, lives with his twelve year old sister, Gretel and his mother, father, and a couple of family works like a maid and cook. Their father is a Nazi officer. They live in Berlin but move to “Out-With”. While in “Out-With”, he befriends a boy in striped pajamas named Shmuel. Bruno goes to see him every day that he can.
This is a confusing, powerful story set during World War II where wealthy ignorant boy meets an “out-with” Jew. the film stays true to the book through the plot where Bruno dies, And deviates through the mother 's character and the resolution. Since Bruno died of the same reason in both the film version and the book, it shows how the film stayed true to the book. Bruno had left to go to the Concentration Camp with Shmuel thinking they would just go find Shmuel’s father and Say Goodbye.

“Friendship has been described as the most holy bond of society”. I agree with this quote because friendship I believe that everyone has that one important person in their life. That one person that means a lot to them. I got the chance to read “Boy in the Striped Pajamas”. I think the book is sweet the reason for that is because as both boys meet up they talk about things they don't normally tell anyone else.
In times of war people best respond to conflict by making friends and communicating. There are several examples of making friends and communicating in the diary of Anne Frank. Also there are also many examples in The Boy In Striped Pajamas. In The Boy In Striped Pajamas Shmuel is cleaning shot glasses in Bruno's home in the concentration camp.
A technique I would apply is keep a respectable distance from the person of conflict. The conflict should be easily resolved between both people
Do you ever not care about something? That is indifference. Indifference is to have a lack of interest, concern, or sympathy. Indifference is in use everyday in this world, it is also used in many ways in “The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.” Some examples of indifference are if you are in class, not paying attention, on your phone and you don’t listen.

His book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas has become a much loved tale of two boys with a forbidden friendship. One of the biggest issues the readers have is Bruno’s naivety. Bruno, being the son of an important soldier, is blind to the actual horrors taking place at “Out-with.” To Bruno, Shmuel is just another boy who happens to be on the other side of the fence.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas uses imagery in many different ways. For example, the fence of the concentration camp, Auschwitz separates Bruno's world and Shmuel’s world. Although they are very close physically, emotionally and mentally they are very far. The fence is used as an image of a cage in the novel. The fence of Auschwitz traps the people inside the camp and defeats all hope for the prisoners.
The novel Behind the Bedroom Wall by Laura E. Williams connects to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. For example, in Behind the Bedroom Wall, the main character is a girl named Korinna who has once been a Nazi supporter. She later discovered that her family is harboring a Jewish family in their house. While she is against the idea at first she becomes more considerate and caring with the family. A similar kind of event transpired in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, when the main character, Bruno, befriended a young jewish kid living in a concentration camp.
This was the beginning of their friendship created during tough times of the Holocaust. The races of Jews and Germans were separated after World War I and Jews were put into concentration camps run by the Nazis. This quote shows that Bruno did not want to disagree with his friend Shmuel even though they did not share the same ideas.
