In the well-known novel The Scarlet Letter one of the protagonists, Hester, commits a horrible sin that in her culture was considered to be as bad as murder. Hester committed adultery with one of the most holy people in her community, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. Reverend Dimmesdale tried to hide his mistake of adultery and conform to the norm of the society he lived in. Many people consider his cowardice to be his worst action. A famous quote contradicts that notion, “The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, but conformity.”
He fought to stay alive because he had hope that one day he would be liberated. Elie also showed hope when he was traveling to the new
If Elie didn’t have to face this conflict it would have changed how he fought for his rights and would’ve taken away how passionate he was for his dad. In the Crucible there are no actual dates of when the witch trials actually took place. Since the story is taking place in the days of early settlement the story can not be proven or disproven. But, since the fear of witches and the devil was real in those times then I can say that Salem Witch Trials might have happened, but , this specific set of incidents did not. According to act one in the crucible “ But Betty collapses in her hands and lies inert on the bed.(I.113-132)” this quote shows how this story is non-fiction because of the detailed words.

While it is true that taking care of oneself and loved ones is important, certain principles are worth risking one's life or quality of life for. In the play "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller, the character John Proctor stands up for his principles of truth and justice, even though it means risking his reputation and his life. One of the quotes that illustrate this is when John Proctor says "I have given you my soul; leave me my name!"(143) He is willing to sacrifice his reputation and name for the principle of truth and justice, showing his strong conviction in his beliefs. Similarly, in the movie "Good Night, and Good Luck," Edward R. Murrow risks his career and safety to speak out against the communist witch-hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy.
The Crucible Essay The overall theme of the play, The Crucible, is about lying and deceiving people of the court and the people of Salem, while the main message of the Crucible is about how making accusations and rumors up can sometimes go way farther than they are meant to go. The Crucible play centers around accusations that are made about people throughout the town of Salem, without any real evidence these accusations are believed by the courts and people. Some of the quotes from this piece would go perfectly for this. For example Arthur Miller’s quote “Until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven” works out well because the people are great people until they get wrongfully accused so much they just fall apart.
At the beginning of Act 3, Eric enters the room "miserably," and his request for a drink suggests that he is trying to avoid facing the consequences of his actions. However, as the scene progresses, Eric begins to take responsibility for his behaviour and acknowledges the harm he has caused. For example, when the Inspector suggests that Eva Smith/Daisy Renton was pregnant with Eric's child, Eric admits to being the father and expresses his regret: "My God!... I wasn't in love with her or anything—but I liked her—she was pretty and a good sport—" This quote reveals that Eric has learned to take ownership of his actions, and his use of the phrase "My God!" highlights the gravity of the situation.

“The human body is the best work of art.” ― Jess C. Scott This is a quote John Proctor sure would have approved of. Arthur Miller’s The Crucible depicts the last days of the life of John Proctor.
