In the article Radical Youth Work: Becoming Visible by Skott-Myhre, we are introduced to the idea of otherness. Judging from what I understood otherness could be defined as the being out of the ordinary and different. Colonial times represented a very individualistic society. Kings ruled the empire; much like men (fathers) made the decisions for their family. The view points and opinions of both women and youth during these times were neglected and disregard. Unfortunately, in today’s day in age this discrepancy between the opinions of adults and youth is still very current.
