Have you ever began to read something whether it be an article, story, or any piece of writing and quickly realized you have no idea what the writer is speaking about? The obvious answer is yes, and readers have come to appreciate the type of authors who make things clear and engaging for any non-specialist audience. An author in specific who was able to accomplish this, was Jeff Wise. He wrote a blog post in 2012 for Psychology today called “Deadly Mind Traps”, and eventually revised it in order to give it to the Readers Digest six months later. Jeff Wise was able to make his explanations clear, concise and engaging for any type of reader by breaking a seemingly big subject that appears confusing into five mini subjects; which include, The
Imagine you were more talented, good-looking, and smarter than the average person, but, you had to cover all of it up to fit in with the average person that is not talented. In Kurt Vonnegut’s story “Harrison Bergeron”, set in 2081, where the government strictly enforces equality among all its citizens who are seen as exceptional and are required to wear handicaps. The main character, a 14-year-old boy named Harrison Bergeron, was put into jail for being athletic, genius, and more good-looking than most and seen as a threat for it. Harrison broke out of jail during a ballet performance on live television, crashed the performance, and declared himself emperor. He picked a ballet dancer to join him and be his empress, and both of them ripped
David Stern’s Strategy In the 1984 NBA (National Basketball Association) All-Star Game, there was a combined 1 player out of the two 12-man rosters that was born outside of the United States. That was pretty much the norm for the NBA back then. However, if you fast forward 38 years to the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, there was a record-setting 12 international players (“NBA All-Star"). It was not that the internationally born players in the league just got that much better over that time span, moreover, it was the fact that there were so many more in the league comparatively.
Jonathan Lynn’s film My Cousin Vinny (1992) follows the journey of an amateur New York lawyer as he takes on his first murder case. Throughout My Cousin Vinny, irony and comedy portray Jonathan Lynn’s rendition of legal proceedings and the fragility
Living with a large family can be both a blessing and a curse, especially when one member feels constantly overlooked and undervalued. In Neil Simon’s play Brighton Beach Memoirs, the main character Eugene knows this struggle all too well. The play follows the dynamics of the Jerome family as they live together in a crowded New York apartment in the 1930s. Through humor and drama, the play explores the themes of family relationships, identity, and money struggles. Despite being the main character, Eugene is often dismissed by his family and struggles throughout the play to find his importance within his family.
John Boyne said at one point “If you ask me, were all in the same boat. And it’s leaking.” The Holocaust and WWII are known as one of the worst times in World History. All through, “Boy in Striped Pajamas”, Boyne uses narrative techniques and goals to make the story more and more intense, and this really represents the seriousness of the Holocaust. In this story, Bruno is the main character and he goes through a big change right in the beginning, he moves and then goes to a completely remote area where there’s no one except old people.

“‘It’s easier to follow fashion than it is to have personal style’” (“Ralph Lauren's Most Stylish Quotes”) When you think of clothing brands you most likely think of Nike, Air Jordan, and other brands like that but neither of those brands had to work as hard as Ralph Lauren did. You have probably heard of Polo shirts or the brand ‘Ralph Lauren’ but have you heard his whole story? Ralph went from selling ties he made in his drawer to college then to the military and still grew to be one of the richest people in the world. There are very few people that could make it through college and then the military so Ralph being able to do that and more while enduring poverty and doubt is incredible. After hearing Ralph’s story, it is one that you will
Priceline was the brainchild of a very creative thinker Jay Walker that has grown to be the best online accommodation ever in the travel agency and have a high level of competitive advantage than any other company in the industry. Although it was a new concept that has never been used before, other businesses in the travel agency did not like the method and feared that it would affect their business operations; so they was not willing to incorporate it to their business. However, not all companies felt the same way about the method and TWA and America West accepted the new idea. Since TWA and America West were not major agencies in the industry, Priceline business strategy was still in a slump to make a successful company. Therefore, Walker felt he was the main reason for the company lack of business progress so he instantly move himself as manager and CEO of the company and brought in Jeffery Boyd as CEO of the company.
When the full extent of the Holocaust became known after the end of World War II, the thought that its horror was too monstrous to write about in the fictional forms slipped into the conversations of intellectuals. Fiction implies maneuvers which seem trivial and inappropriate in the context of unprecedented. Putting the point simply, it is impossible to think of a novel that conveys the full effect of the Nazi genocide. The works such as Anne Frank's diary, Schindler's List, etc. are all factual. This renders a book like The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas ridiculous.
The novel representation of “Boy in the striped on the striped pajamas.” I chose to represent the novel with a website. The website is about Auschwitz after Bruno moves to a place called outwith with his family. After reading the novel a bit you can tell that when Bruno says outwith he is, in fact, talking about Auschwitz. Other then the first paragraph this whole novel is about Auschwitz

Harper Lee incorporates imagery and characterization in order to portray the small town of Maycomb and it’s citizen’s during a time when segregation was at a high. Lee introduces the small town of Maycomb through imagery to help the reader understand coming of age in Maycomb.
Many middle students are struggling with history because it's boring, but if you add fiction to the mix the kids would get more interested in history. For example, The Boy in The Striped Pajamas is fiction, but it helps you understand what the Jews had to go through during the holocaust. There are many different points of view in this matter. Historical fiction introduces readers to characters who have different points of view and it offers examples of how people deal differently with problems. It also informs students about the interpretive nature of history, showing how authors and illustrators deal with an issue in different ways.
Statement of intent “Simon”, is a short story created by myself, which follows the proceeds of an “average day” for an individual named Simon. This character is initially presented as recluse and ordinary, and as my narrative progresses, so too does Simon's personality. Through specific literary devices, I was able to comment on the topic of change. More specifically, the process of undertaking change, public opinions on stagnation and whether drastic change is in fact a good thing. I have written “Simon”, in the point of view of Third Person limited.
