Some may ask the question… Is there really a balanced that can be gained between home and school life? We are all different types of people and come from different types of family’s. Some parents stress upon their children how big education is and how important it is to be successful in life. On the other hand some parents don’t really care that much about education because they are not really educated themselves and find it hard to help their children build on their education.
Near the beginning of her essay she quotes, ‘“Between 1999 and 2007, homeschoolers in the United States increased by an estimated 74 percent, twelve times the rate of public school growth, and now likely number more than two million altogether.” ’ This is an example of a statistic. She uses this direct quote to back up her claims of why she believes homeschooling is on the rise, and the parents reasoning for educating their children at home. The only emotional appeal in this essay is when she states her concern for teenagers having the opportunity to be in social environments conducive to making lifelong friends. She tries to convince the readers that homeschooled children will be socially awkward and alone.

Annotated Bibliography In this day and age of school becoming more and more rigorous and the demand for our children 's education growing each year, an alternative option becomes an enticing thought. Homeschooling is something many people might not associate with modern times. Kids in the American school system are often times overworked and underplayed. Starting from as young as kindergarten, children are expected to sit at a desk and focus for up to eight hours a day with less and less outdoor free-time.

"But I don't know how to read and write". Sadly, around 45%-47% of kids around the world say this. Did you ever think about those kids who don’t have any education and how their life must be? Under privileged communities should start to invest their money in education because kids will get a better lifestyle in the future, more knowledge, and we will get a safer community. Education is a very important thing.
First of all, statistically speaking, “The home-educated typically score 15 to 30 percentile points above public-school students on standardized academic achievement tests”(“Research Facts on Homeschooling”). This includes tests such as the SAT, PSAT, ACT, and annual benchmark tests. Because of this reason, many colleges actively seek homeschooled students. Top colleges are scouting homeschoolers, and it’s due to the fact that homeschoolers “go to and succeed at college at an equal or higher rate than the general population”(“Research Facts on Homeschooling”). Also, studies have proved that “Homeschool freshmen in their first semester at college average a 3.37 GPA to the 3.08 of other freshmen, and continue to keep their advantage even into senior year with 3.46 versus 3.16”(“The Homeschooler’s Guide to Getting into College”).
Home schooling is a trending concept that is popular mostly in US and around the world. Home schooling preferred often by the parents that have environmental concerns, religious beliefs, lack of confidence to the education quality of the public and private schools and inadequacy of curriculum. They believe that they can give better education to their children at home. According to Jamie Martin (Homeschooling 101: What Is Homeschooling, 2012), home schooling began to grow in the 1970s, when popular writers and researchers such as John Holt and Dorothy and Raymond Moore wrote about the educational reforms and they alleged that home schooling is a valid educational alternative.
Our educational system is failing us. The United States of America is supposed to be the “greatest” country in the world but statistics are showing that our government/educational system is failing us; children/young adults of the nation. Being a student of a middle ranked school in Arizona, I personally have had a first-hand feel for how good and/or bad teaching affects students. Just in high school I have had teachers that would just assign websites as our lesson and even teachers that sit at their desk for the whole hour; don’t even go over the mindset, homework, and maybe only show one problem so that we’ll know what the homework will be like. Until sophomore year I didn’t even know the differences between you’re, your, too, and to.
Homeschooling is an educational option that allows parents to teach their children at home instead of sending them to public schools. Many parents believe that homeschooling is the best option for their children. For those people who don’t know what exactly homeschooling is, “A home school is a school in which parents teach their children an academic curriculum at home instead of sending them out to a public or private school. Home schooling is legal throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Home schooling is most popular in Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. There is a third reason which is the Most important reason, is to get a great picture of the cultural diversity of the United States of America. Knowledge of others, their cultures, their sciences and way of life, is useful for learning about a new culture. Some cultures have good qualities and bad recipes, or perhaps do not fit the nature of our lives. For example, my presence in America has made me learn a lot of American cultures that if I find them in my country and may be useful to me or in raising my children such as opening the door to the person walks behind me, honestly I like this behavior which I miss this in my country. In general, the idea of quoting the culture that suits our societies may help us to develop from the reality of our lives.
Education is a huge issue that not only affects kids and their parents, but their community as well. Schools teach young kids to become the next generation of engineers, technicians, and political leaders, working towards creating a better future for their country and their community. Teachers have the unique job of creating the future leaders of the world, and preparing them for both college and life beyond, by putting a special push towards math and science, the so-called “foundation” of our society. The hard truth is, no one can be anything they want to be. Some people are simply not cut out to be engineers, doctors, or psychologists.
