The actions of 9/11 and the Red Scare are in fact different. With the Red Scare it was Communism and with 9/11 it was Muslims, basically all Middle Easterners. Even though the date and time of the events are different, in both events men were able to step up and take advantage of fear and hatred to turn it into suspicion and paranoia. During the time of the Red Scare attack, the U.S became afraid that communist especially from Russia and China would spread throughout the modern world. The United States is a Democratic Nation and feared that the spread of communist would be good for the United States or the world.
The first Red Scare began following the Bolshevik Russian Revolution of 1917 and the intensely patriotic years of World War I as anarchist and left-wing social agitation aggravated national, social, and political tensions. In todays world, there are still situations similar to this that are occurring. The most recent one was in the early 20th century when many people believed there were communist within their society ready and prepared to go against the United States, which was called the 1st Red Scare. Both the Red Scare and the Salem Witch Trials (in "The Crucibles") caused a great deal of chaos, and people began to accuse each other of different actions against their community.
In the 1940 's and 1950 's, an anti-Communist movement swept the United States of America. Fueled by the anti-Communist actions of Congress, particularly a Senator from Wisconsin by the name of Joseph McCarthy, the movement escalated and many people lost their jobs as a result of various blacklists. Congressional hearings, both in front of HUAC and McCarthy Senate committee were a study in organized persecution. The actions taken during the "Red Scare" were eventually given the general name McCarthyism. McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.
The Red Scare and The 9/11 events caused a lot of trouble in the United States. There are a lot of things about these events that are the very similar. I wasn’t living during these events because the Red Scare happened during mostly the 1940’s and part of the 1950’s and then the attacks of September 11 happened during 2001. It took Americans off guard to see something like those events happen here in this country.

Because many of the views of the immigrants were much different than that of an average American they were definitely easier to accuse for crimes, and seemed to be much more suspicious now. In a news article published during the Red Scare, the author describes the Communist red flag as symbolizing “defiance of law, order, and constitutional government. It is an insult to the stars and stripes.” It also states, “There is no room in this country for any flag but our own.” (source) The article goes on to say that the federal government must do whatever it takes to eradicate any forms of communism.
The Red Scare and The Crucible Backstabbing is the most painful thing you could emotionally feel. It was a common occurrence when it was displayed in The Crucible and during the Red Scare. People would walk around on a daily basis with a knife to their throats and were watched every day on what they would say. One slip up and their lives and careers could and would have been ruined.

Power in the wrong hands can be disastrous and cause many consequences like the invasion of privacy, false accusations, and even the death of some people. An excess of power has been used throughout time in such places and events like the Salem witch trials in Salem Massachusetts, the Red Scare in the United States during the late 1940’s and early 50’s, and the government secretly hacking into our everyday appliances. There are many similarities between the salem witch trials in which many people were falsely accused of being witches and later hanged, the red scare where McCarthy would go after people who may work for the communist country Russia, and how the CIA may be watching us in suspicion of terrorist breeches in the US.
