After reflecting on all that you have learned in this course, share what you believe is one current trend in the human services field in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and/or the community. This course has been a revelation for me. In the past eight weeks, I learned many things about running a nonprofit organization, and I am sure I will learn a lot more. There are so many different elements that goes into managing an organization like how to build capacity, funding/budgeting, assessment tools, the role of the board of directors, and past/current trends in the field.

I worked both individually and alongside a team to maximise sales, exceed targets and build a client base. This role required a high level of motivation and enthusiasm which I successfully brought to CHANEL.

What is reflection? Reflection is described as the process individuals use for self-development in their future career. The process of reflection has been used for many years in professional health fields such as midwifery and nursing (Lillyman. S & Merrix. P, 2012). Florence nightingale pioneered the practice known as reflection-on-practice, this is a tool that is needed in developing improvement and knowledge to enable an individual to grow in their nursing profession.
Throughout clinical practice this semester I have been able to address difference in nursing care, work alongside other heath care workers. During one of my shifts there were many times during the day where the RN on my team challenged my skills. For example, I was hanging an IV line for a client and had labeled the tubing to ensure that it was changed every 24 hrs. The RN went on to challenge this as she felt it was unnecessary and I should have labeled it to be changed every 72 hrs. I explained that I had done it because the IV wasn’t being run all day.
Although reflection is an imperative foundation of nursing practice, it is only effective in promoting future clinical practice when the practitioner continually identifies their weaknesses and strengths to support their personal growth. Introduction This essay is a reflective piece of writing about the critical indecent of a medication error that occurred during my placement. It is a very concise piece of writing due to limited word count of 1500 words. Duke and Appleton (2000) did a literature review and devised a framework of critical reflection, which illustrates eight stages as compare to Gibbs’s (1998) reflective model that consist of six stages. I chose Gibbs reflective model not only it is easy to comprehend but also to illustrate a critical incident.
As a student I found that as I observed or taught my philosophy changed. I looked into other theories to see if I could build upon my existing knowledge and beliefs. Something that would assist me in the classroom and increase my ability to teach. Changes in teaching philosophy and techniques came about during day to day experience as well as with microteaching and these are brought to the forefront of my mind through the use of reflection. Reflection is at first a hard technique to grasp.
Over the semester I have learned many new aspects of social work that have helped deepen my understanding of what social work is really about. This course has taught me things that will help me become a better person and will also help me with my future working with children. Self reflection is a key skill to have when working in social work. We need to understand how we are, and our social location, influence everything we do with social work. My beliefs and values would be beneficial for being a social worker because I have a caring no judgment, personality that allows me to be a neutral and to listen to people.
Over the past one and half month, the class of PDE 502 (Counselling and Career Education) has taught me some major lessons for life in dealing with the clients in response to their emotional needs. The role of a counsellor is not unlike that of a friend where by it is nurtured by being in each other’s company, talking over everyday issues and sharing feelings. However, what sets a counsellor apart is their experience and the ability to apply counselling theories and techniques to assist people in gaining awareness, insight and explore ways of solving their own issues.
