Candidate King gave a brief that contained information required to execute the mission, however nothing more. His orientation was thorough, but SNC never actually said “Orientation.” In his situation, SNC provided the essential information for the enemy but never began with stating the “Enemy Situation.” SNC’s mission contained information that was proper and had a task and purpose, but was not verbatim from the higher order. SNC did brief pretty confidently with little to no hesitation or stumbling throughout his order.

The idea of shift work is a common one, but for nurses this is not a simple changing of staff during a certain time, change of shift signifies a time of purposeful communication between nurses and patients, in order to promote patient safety and best practices (Caruso, 2007). During this time, there is the possibility for this critical opportunity to relay important information to become disorganized by extraneous information, rather than concentrating on the needs of the patient (Sullivan, 2010). Often the patient is left out of the conversation, and is not a part of the process. Patients and families can play an important role in making sure these transitions in care are safe and effective (AHRQ, 2013).
12. List out the full ranges of times you are not available to work? From day shifts, evening, and over nights, a hospital is open 24/7. Some positions require being available for various shifts. I am very flexible with hours and days; I am available for whenever I am needed.
Since this course would be my first PA course, it is very exciting. Throughout college, I have been taking courses not entirely relevant to the Physician Assistant major. I hope to learn many practical aspects related to physician assistance such as; learning how to take a patient's vitals, learning how to administer a full physical examination, learning about certain diseases, learning how to obtain and record a patient's history. I also want to understand the clinical process in more depth, learning and appreciating the art of medicine, as well as having a deeper appreciation and understanding about the Physician Assistant profession. I also want to obtain a very strong foundation on the Physician Assistant major before graduate school.

Reflecting on the past seven weeks I have acquired countless knowledge, which I will use to further strengthen my profession as an Advanced Practice Nurse. The course allowed me to think beyond my current practice knowledge and acquired innovative ways to evaluate the situation at hand. The learning objective in program outcome four helps set standards that I will use to guide my clinical practice to meet various healthcare needs. Using the case studies has helped to further enhance my knowledge on disease physiological state, using differential diagnosis, disease manifestations, and clinical presentation. It has also taught me the skills on how to differentiate between similar diagnoses to properly identify the problem and treat the patients.
As a Charge nurse for the Intensive Care Unit, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Iris Nonog, both as a colleague and as a resource. She has successfully integrated herself as a part of the team. Iris is dedicated and enthusiastic about excelling as an ICU nurse and as well as making a positive impact in the unit through education advancement and team building. I found her to be having a pleasant personality and able to focus and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Her work is detail-oriented and meticulous as she enjoys taking challenges.
The professional nursing values I believe are things you can be taught and some you cannot. Nurses are special individuals who ultimately want to care for and help others as much as they can. I agree with all of these values and believe some I will need to work on myself such as competence, illness prevention and patient education. Others I believe I have based on my experience I have already had while caring for others. Some of the qualities I believe I have include: caring, compassion, dependability, empathy, focusing on the patient- defining quality of life, having a holistic patient centered care, kindness, openness to learning, respect for others their dignity and worth and sensitivity.
What is reflection? Reflection is described as the process individuals use for self-development in their future career. The process of reflection has been used for many years in professional health fields such as midwifery and nursing (Lillyman. S & Merrix. P, 2012). Florence nightingale pioneered the practice known as reflection-on-practice, this is a tool that is needed in developing improvement and knowledge to enable an individual to grow in their nursing profession.
The thing I did best today, was, communicating with my patient, and doing his physical assessment. My clinical rotation this quarter for Galen College of Nursing ,is at the VA medical center, in Louisville Ky. The VA medical center is a govt hospital for the veterans.
Introduction This essay is a reflective piece of writing about the critical indecent of a medication error that occurred during my placement. It is a very concise piece of writing due to limited word count of 1500 words. Duke and Appleton (2000) did a literature review and devised a framework of critical reflection, which illustrates eight stages as compare to Gibbs’s (1998) reflective model that consist of six stages.
