I presented a book report in front of my English 3 class and educated the audience about Robert Penn Warren's life and career as a writer, as well give my opinion on the book All the King's Men: one of Warrens most popular. I spoke clearly, used my hands, and gave my facts about the author and book. I learned how calm down and talk in front of the class with confidence. I used creative thinking by presenting with my hands and using body language. My power point was appealing to the eye and was detailed with facts.

I was most engaged in this course when I was doing the research for this paper. Filtering through all the research and figuring out what is valuable information was the most exciting part for me. Additionally, finding information and connecting it to a suspect is the most satisfying part of my job. Writing the actual research paper has been the second most engaging thing during this course. It is difficult for me because I know I am not a great writer, but there are improvements in my writing since starting college.
The 214 English hybrid course has got me into thinking more about constructing a strong thesis and creating solid topic sentences. Being able to identify my thesis has also helped my writing have better organization that helps the overall flow of my essay. With blogging incorporated into our academic criteria it was certainly something different. Blogging geared me into reading more articles and analysis the authors use of rhetorical devices. After this course I have gone more on magazine websites to read current topics.

Part One: During the course of writing this research pitch, I changed my mind several times. At the very beginning, right after Dr. Bronstein releases the assignment, Angela and I was thinking about topics related to feminism because most of the lectures we covered focus on female artists. Base off this vague idea, we each started our own research on music videos that illustrates feminism. The first concrete idea we came up with focus on the compare and contrast of black and white feminism because we both recall the verbal fights between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj over the reward of VMAs. From their arguments, we found a huge difference between the focus of their arguments.
Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. These include various writing techniques, MLA formatting, writing for purpose, convincing my arguments and finding and properly using sources. The portfolio I have submitted is comprised of three works of writing that I completed for ENG 1101 over the last three months.
Eleonora Hasani Comm 145 Online “Just Bag it” Speech Self-Evaluation 1. I gained my audience’s attention through an ironic joke. By asking my audience if they hated when people answered their own questions, and then proceeded to answer my own question saying I hated it, I got them interested in what else I had to say. 2. I feel like I introduced by topic clearly by stating in my introduction paragraph that I wanted to give the audience a “glimpse of my life” and then followed it with my thesis that included the three items I was going to talk about. 3.
As I reflect on the past 15 months of attending CCU. I recall the excitement, and the overwhelming stress of having to work full time and attend online college. I was not sure that I could complete my degree at fifty years old. Because of being out of school for over 30 years. I was somewhat reluctant to give it a try.
I simply had not practiced enough. The informative speech was the first speech I was actually dreading giving. I felt prepared before the other two and was even excited to give them. This speech was the complete opposite, however. I was extremely nervous when I walked to the front of the room because I was worried that I would lose my train of thought during the speech.
Feel like saving a couple bucks, how about hundreds? I have chosen to do my informative speech on the impact of Electric Cars on the automotive industry, the environment, the economy, and society today. Electric cars have formed a large scale impact on the automotive industry itself, providing a lot more options for people looking for a car. The environment is helped by these cars because there are less emissions produced by these cars as opposed to traditional gas. The economy has changed as a result of this because the cars do not require gasoline fill ups to run, but electric bills will rise as a result of charging.

As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone.
