In The National Honors Society, there are four pillars that an NHS Member should exemplify. These four pillars consist of Leadership, Service, Character, and Scholarship. I think that I would be a good candidate for NHS because I exemplify these four pillars. First, I have leadership qualities testified by my numerous leadership positions across multiple fields. Another trait that I support heavily is service.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. NHS has impacted my life because the organization has opened my eyes to what an honor society is. Like most members at first I believed that the organization primary focus was about the measure of one 's intelligence and persoal accolades. But, quickly I came to the understanding that the National Honor Society is an orgination whose beliefs are predicated on being a well roudned person. In life there are many narrow minded individuals, who only focus on one thing, such as money, intelligence, or success. But to be a truly well-rounded person you need to have more than one quality.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
I have always enjoyed teaching people and helping them learn so that they can succeed in school. I got involved with tutoring through National Honor Society and the A+ Scholarship Program. With National Honor Society there is many service opportunities that I am able to be involved in and I do as many as possible, but tutoring homebound has always been what I've prefered to do. This is very important to me because many of these students aren't in class to learn directly from a teacher so things can become confusing fairly quickly and I like to be there to help as much as I am able to. Even at times when it is something that I am not proficient in it becomes a learning experience for me as well as the student I am tutoring.
There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. These include character, leadership, scholarship and service. To begin with, I feel that character is an important quality to possess. In school, I have never been written up for violating code or have served a school detention/suspension and I hope not to in the future.
What I see as the function of the National Honor Society is to encourage young adults like myself to participate more within their school and community. It allows students the ability to give and serve other people that have done so for them. This group will give many students an eye opening experience on volunteering for fellow citizens. If I were to be selected into the National Honor Society, I would contribute to the group by sharing ideas and giving useful feedback to the other students in the group. I would also provide personal experiences of certain voluntary services that I have completed, if needed.
I strongly believe that participating in service work and having strong leadership qualities helps set people up for a brighter future. As people who are honored to have such fortunate lives, it is our duty to help those who need an extra hand. In the National Honors Society, I would love the opportunity to practice this duty often. I will try my best to participate in as many service projects that are available to us, because I value the ability we have to help others. I believe that NHS will help us grow and become more educated as students, and people, in general as we participate in service work.
With my luck I wasn 't surprised that the day National Honor Society slips were handed out, my homeroom teacher was absent. As I went from period to period, everyone gushed about how they were considered to become a part of the society. I sat there silently not saying a word. One can only imagine the stress I went throughout the day wondering if I was in or out. I ended up getting the letter the next day during homeroom.
I want to be part of the National Honors Society because I want to be part of a group of intelligent young adults that take pride in the service and leadership roles that I also am very proud of. Additionally, I have worked really hard to maintain my academic standings with my extremely busy schedule, and it would be really nice to be recognized for it. At the same time, it would be really nice to be recognized not only for my academic achievement but for what I have done in my community. I believe that if I was part of National Honors Society, it would promote me to work really hard inside and outside of school. One of the most important things that a person can do is learn to grow. As a 6’6” high schooler, growth has always come naturally to me. Whether it be through service or leadership, or some combination of both, my goal is to develop myself as a productive member of society and to positively impact the environment that surrounds me. Considering this, my vision for my college experience is simple: become equipped to live and serve my community in and outside of my career field. Universities prepare students for work within their desired area of employment.

This is my favorite bible verse and one I try to live by every day.
To be in National Junior Honor Society you have to have good character, citizenship,service, and leadership. First, I have good character. I take criticism willingly, and I also welcome recommendations. Second, I demonstrate citizenship well. Civic involvement is very important, and I have high regard to freedom, justice, and respect for the American form of government.
I believe I display all of the qualities mentioned in the four pillars of National Honor Society. I am a person of good character who displays the six pillars of character in everything I do. I provide leadership and service in many ways and value education as a lifelong learner. It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
