My service learning was really closely connected with my service. My passion paper was on Climate change and stressed the importance of local action. My service and advocacy reflected in a plethora of different ways. For one, I attended the November 9th Anti-trump protest in Minneapolis. I went there to protest his anti-environmental stances, specifically his opposition to the carbon tax, his neglect of renewable fuels, and his subpar appointments to the head of the epa.

Prior to this project, I had never really vocalized myself very much. During this project I went to my first ever protest, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. I was surrounded by some really amazing people with a lot to say about the environment, I even met several green party members who explained to me perspectives on issues I hadn’t even considered. As for most of the people at the protest, I was able advertise my project to them. My brother and I made signs and tested our voices starting our chanting “Let’s shout, not whine, Let’s block that pipeline!”. The protest was really peaceful, and that made this such a great avenue to bring light to our issue. In terms of skill I gained, I learned how to use google sites really well by actually making it a major component of my advocacy. I aquired really great organizational skills in my project, by religiously following my calendar, and making sure everything went to the plan. Lastly, after having completed this assignment I now see community service in a whole new light. I used to see Edina as a community that didn’t need service, but like every other communities, it does. No matter how much Edina excels as a community, we’re far from perfect, and I am now able to see
