There were many different lessons I learned during the English 101 class, I would make all the changes in the diagnostic essay because of the concepts we learned in class. The most important lessons I learned in class were the grammar lessons and making all of my papers logical. Without the grammar lessons my papers wouldn’t sound proper, and making my papers logical made it easier for the reader to understand. The lessons that I learned in class made me realize what I needed to do in all of my
Eagerness to learn, attention to details, and willingness to put in required effort and time, all qualities I wish to continue to practice as a student in AP English 12. As a student of organization and willingness to participate in classroom discussions and interactions, I believe those attributes of me as a student set me up for success in this class. My enthusiasm in learning has been a leading factor in my decision to apply for this rigorous course my senior year. While there are other options available this is the course best suited for me due to my attention to details and readiness to dedicate time and effort into this class. As an AP English student I am mainly interested in continuing to practice and develop reading and writing skills
I took AP English Language and Composition during the 2016-17 school year. My overall grade in the class was an A. Participating in this class taught me invaluable lessons about how to convey my ideas clearly both in written and spoken word. In-class essays and the rigor of larger projects taught me to focus not only on what I was writing, but also how I was writing it. Techniques for editing and reading that I learned in AP Lang have made it easier to read my writing with more self-awareness, and also to consider how it will be interpreted by my audience and what I can do to influence that interpretation. Having taken AP Lang, I now feel more confident approaching nearly any English-related assignment, and know that I have the skills necessary
Throughout this course, I’ve written a variety of essays starting from Approaches to a Written Argument, Personal Essay, Academic Argument Essay and Process Reflection essay. I’ve learned a great deal of information between these four essay. I’ve learned that most of the time when you write a college essay, it’s going to need to be written in APA format and if it’s not in APA format you can get serious points taken off of your grade. APA format has to be set up in a specific, from the title page to a reference page and APA must have a reference page, because it’s considered plagiarism when you’re not giving credit to the author who you’re quoting from. I’ve also learned about the I.C.E method.
Throughout my junior year I’ll admit that I have grown in certain areas as a student academically. At the beginning of the year we were tasked with writing a rhetorical analysis essay for the cola wars and coming previously from a CPM class it was challenging trying to write an essay that I was not familiar with. Once I had received my essay back Ms.Miller explained exactly what i had done wrong and made it clear as to why received my score. After the meeting I was able to re-do my essay to correct errors I made to raise my score. Once corrected and with help I was able to understand how to describe in detail as to how and why the authors evokes an emotion through their purpose.
Now, by this point I was excited to take on this class. I had heard horrible things about how the teacher would just cut you from the class if you had too many punctuation errors or that she would force students to knock out an essay in the first half of class. I couldn’t contain my joy when I heard this. Me, a person who lived and breathed reading and writing, would soon get a chance to possibly advance even further. So over the summer, I knocked out the teacher’s readings and came to class the first day ready.
Writing skills are very important. Everyone will have an encounter with writing at some point, and most of us do on a daily basis. I would share what I have learned with my husband. My husband is also in school, and with our busy schedules we are always rushing to get our work done. I can share the tips that I have learned with him.
I was in Mr. Howard’s AP Literature class. It was the first day of class, there were approximately thirty of us, sitting in rows of six, in the dark with music playing in the background and colorful bright lights traveling through the room. I chatted with my close friend Andrea, who sat beside me, until the bell rang to indicate that passing period was over. Mr. Howard then turned on the lights and muted the music and began to introduce us to his course. He stated that the class would be writing one to two essays a week and that there would be quizzes and tests based on our readings, the body of students responded to this by groaning and complaining; however, it was an AP course and were we to expect anything less?
AP English Language is a class unlike any other English course I have ever experienced. Throughout my high school experience, with the exception of this year, English class was a breeze for me. I flew through the assignments. I completed essays and presentations days in advance. I had free time to simply search the web or play games with classmates.
I truly enjoyed taking the English 1302 class with you, thanks for making this class easy and not stressful. During my High School year, I hated to take English because my grammar is bad, however, this class has allowed me to stress less over my grammar and focus more on my arguments. In addition, every discussion and journal have helped me learned how to think critically when analyzing poems and stories. Thanks for being an attentive professor. Which essay was your strongest?
Tawney Nodland – As I look back over the past semester of English Composition, I realize that I have grown as a writer. In all the years I’ve been going to school I have had the most trouble with writing. All of the teachers I’ve had would tell me that I just needed to keep working on my writing any I would see a huge change. That never happened. Whenever I would write it always looked the same to me with no changes. My writing is always fairly choppy I think
While I do know some of the rules, due to my previous English teachers in school, there is still much that I do not know. But, through the course of this past semester I have learned a great deal about different and new rules. This class has taught me a great deal about writing and how to correctly write an essay. Writing is a system of many rules and is a way for people to express their creativity. This class has given me much room to express myself creatively and gain more knowledge.
My journey in this English 3001 course during the past ten weeks, and over the course of taking is English class I have grown and learned more that I thought it is necessary for me to know as a student.
