AP English Language is a class unlike any other English course I have ever experienced. Throughout my high school experience, with the exception of this year, English class was a breeze for me. I flew through the assignments. I completed essays and presentations days in advance. I had free time to simply search the web or play games with classmates. Then, I walked into AP English Language with Ms. Warren, an enthusiastic teacher that strives to push her students. She began the course by informing us we have an extremely crucial test looming in the near future that will quiz you on not only your reading comprehension, but also your ability to write different types of essays. The reading comprehension section was administered first, and I confidently answered all the questions to the best of my ability. My ability to answer the questions quickly and accurately was made possible through the numerous practice tests we completed in and out of class. Not only had these practice test helped me improve my reading comprehension, but it helped make the actual AP tests’ passages seem manageable and less unnerving. Moreover, I felt even more prepared for the essay section of the AP exam than the reading comprehension. The analysis, argumentative, and synthesis essay prompts proposed barely any complications for me, due to the endless amounts of practice essays we wrote in Ms. Warren’s class. I feared the time crunch would be a sincere problem for me, yet I flew through the essays.
