At Hawai’i Pacific University, I plan on obtaining vital skills to produce systems thinking problem solving skills to engage our communities towards a viral social change towards a sustainable tomorrow for future generations. We live on a planet with finite resources and with the exponential growth of globalization, international economies are producing goods and services that reach beyond demand and are creating surpluses that are not utilizing our resources efficiently. My main goal, with this degree program, is to gain the knowledge required to promote environmental consciousness and social responsibility in the modern business era. Our local communities are where this awareness is the most critical. As a leader, the implementation of teamwork and selflessness are paramount to inspiring others and promoting sustainable practices and thought processes. Managers are important but in the modern era leaders are vital to the sustainability movement as the demand for effectiveness and efficiency within our natural and business environments. I have volunteered in two community food gardens in the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado for a total of 50 hours. Interned with Habitat for Humanity on the Build Team supervising volunteer groups and constructing homes for low-income families totaling 204 hours.
