The most challenging part of my speech was converting my preparation outline into a speaking outline. I found that making a speaking outline for our personal speech was quite simple compared to the informative and persuasive speech. The personal speech was an experience so it allowed us to make sentences in the moment easier. As for my informative speaking outline, I found that during my speech I got confused because of how vague I made the outline. Then my problem became that I did not want it to become too long or similar to my preparation outline. With my preparation outline, as I did for my informative speech, I continued to practice as much as possible since we had limited time. I rehearsed in a quiet room in my house whenever I found a vacant room for about an hour and I would time myself. My time would range from 7.40 minutes to around 8.20 minutes, so I strived to have it under 8 minutes. I did that by reading and timing myself on the train since I spend about two hours every day on them on my way to school. It seemed like limited time but it was the same amount as the rest. However, we had more work to do because it was a longer speech, so I had to practice on the train more or even when I had a gap between classes. In addition, I went able to SACC tutoring twice, where they helped me structure my main and sub points of my speech, and tips for me to work on. This boosted my confidence for the speech as how well done it was after some help. In the train, I began by reading my preparation outline for the first half of my ride, and then I would time myself while looking around to people as my audience.
