My junior year I was introduced to the Key Club by one of my friends. I am always volunteering and helping around the community, so Key Club was the club for me. Through Key Club I was introduced to a program called Kids Who Care. This program allows students like myself to go volunteer at nursing homes, senior homes and hospitals. The program is designed to help seniors, young kids that are ill, and people with disabilities. Through this program I can simply go visit them and play games with them or I can interact from a distance by baking for them or being a personal shopper. I personally have enjoyed going to spend time with them. Many of the people, particularly seniors, that I have gotten the chance to interact with don’t have much or any family that comes to visit them. When the Key Club has the chance to visit them, they are very happy to have our company. The few listed above are of the top where I have been able to spend more of my time. The service experiences I have had in the past have left me with many opportunities to learn and grow. The impact that they have had on my life has only been positive. As I begin my transition to college, I aspire to keep the contacts I have with the organizations that I have served for, but I would also like to expand my experiences while in college. While studying and introducing myself to my new life in college I know that I will come across some even more amazing opportunities than I have already experienced today. Through college and beyond I want to expand my experiences and eventually increase my knowledge as to be able to give even more to the people that I serve for.
