As an admission professional of this rehabilitation center; I am up-to-date on trends and best practices throughout this hospital. My goal is to instill confidence in the board, for I too am confident in this transaction and therefore need to incur a $10,000,000 expense to the organization for this facility transformation. Because we have had difficulty in keeping up with our energy supply and were unable to fulfill the past blackout in 2003, there is an overwhelming need to install this additional generator. Using a CHP plant allows the purchase of a single fuel source to achieve both the production of electricity and heat. This would lead to: -Energy savings that can be diverted to better fund the treatment of patients -Financial benefits compared to the separate purchase of electricity and heating fuel -Environmental benefits related to reduced carbon emissions -A source of flexible technology: can be used to provide electricity, heating, AND cooling As our healthcare energy systems require more resources, the following will directly affect healthcare our energy planning and design: -Building Code Adoption -Sustainability Programs -Energy Modeling -Net-Zero -Real-time Energy Pricing -Smaller footprint for infrastructure -Continuous backup emergency power During my explanation to the board of trustees it is important to reiterate these points: -This transaction will providie on-site electricity generation that is resilient in the face of grid outages, which will ultimately provide power for critical services in emergencies and avoiding economic
