Having a vast amount of information may be beneficial sometimes and not in others. Utilizing the web as you’re informational sources can be rather tricky. Some information may be true, whereas the other majority of the information can be false. In student’s cases, doing academic work, teachers instruct the students not to use each sources that is available. From personal experiences, Wikipedia was the sources that was not true nor reliable each times used. Wikipedia is a well-known open online encyclopedia that is open for public distribution of information. Dennis Baron, an English professor and the author of “Wikipedia: Write First, Ask Questions Later,” said “Wikipedia is also the online sources whose reliability we most often question or ridicule” (705). It was said that the online sources were sometimes written by people just like me, uninformed. Trish Dolly said “Let’s start with Wikipedia. Students need to understand that anybody, regardless of their background and credentials, can edit articles” (32). As I began to get further in my education and the need for the use of resources were more prominent, I was then shown that some online resources had very questionable reliability. When I would search for information on a subject, one website might give me an answer that they formulated but another websites would answer the question in a way that might contradict the information given from the first website. It began to be confusing to sort out the information that was true and what was
