I believe that Andrew Jackson did a bad job at being the president. I believe this because of how he handled the major problems that happened during his presidency, and him as a person. One of the problems with Jackson was that he tried to be what he thought was the voice of the people. Another problem with Jackson was his treatment of the Natives, he treated them like lesser people because of their race. The last reason is how horribly he handled the Nullification Crisis and Bank War. Jackson was the voice of the people, which led to many disagreements in government. Jackson came from a poor family and a single mother who tried her best to raise him as best as possible. Jackson became a bully and enjoyed parties, drinks, and duels, he was the common man. Jackson kicked thousands of Natives off of their ancestral lands by force. This fact is supported in source 2 paragraph 3 “During Jackson’s presidency, his attitude toward native people intensified into one characterized by forced removal from their ancestral lands.” This supports my claim by clearly stating that Jackson would forcibly displaced Natives. Another grim fact about how Jackson treated natives was that some tried to assimilate into American culture and were still treated badly.
