Do you know who the God of love and beauty is? It’s Aphrodite, the daughter of Zeus. Aphrodite was born out of the sea and delivered to shore in sea foam. This is where she got the name Aphrodite, which means out of foam. She is also said to have started the Trojan War. If it weren’t for Aphrodite, there would be no Trojan war, and the other gods wouldn’t have to compete with each other because of her beauty. Aphrodite was very beautiful and all the Gods wanted to marry her, and she used this to her advantage. She would get all the attention and almost everyone liked her. It might seem like Aphrodite was perfect because of her beauty, but her personality was the total opposite. She was always afraid someone would be better than her, and this caused her to be very jealous. She always wanted to be on top. Aphrodite always thought people would talk about her behind her back, and would instantly take this is a threat and get very jealous. One time, Aphrodite and the other Goddesses were sitting at a table. In the middle of the table there was an apple that was labeled “fairest of them all” All of the Goddesses thought they deserved the apple, but the final decision was left up to Paris. Paris narrowed it down to Helen,, Aphrodite, and Hera. They began to bribe him. After listening to all of the bribes, Paris chose Aphrodite, who enabled him to go run off with Helen. As soon as Helens husband and his brother found out, they sent out an army to retrieve her. This is believed to have started the Trojan War. This is why Aphrodite is blamed for the Trojan
