If I were to change one thing in my community, I would change the school lunches, because they taste horrendous, and they need to be healthier. First, the lunches should not be processed foods because those use a lot of chemicals that are harmful to the body. Some examples of processed foods are foods that come pre made or from a box or a can. Processed foods usually contain more con syrup and sugars, usually addicting and can make you gain weight,contains many artificial ingredients, high in carbohydrates, and uses lots of oils that are usually processed as well.
Growing up healthy eating is encouraged for many people. Some debate that schools should encourage healthy eating as well. However others believe that it is not a schools choice about what children eat. Schools should not have whole wheat lunches because children should be able to make the decisions of what they eat by themselves. Whole wheat lunches cost too much for schools.
Why the school supporting to change a lunch menu. Some students' favorite food will be eliminate so they can't eating in a cafeteria . Each year having different rules about healthier lunch menu. It's a good idea an my opinion to change to new menu. Students' they don't like the pizza and cheeseburger at the school because to much fat on them.
By serving fruits and vegetables, it helps prevent health problems and promotes healthy eating habits. “Studies show most kids have grown to like the new, healthier options” (William Rice, 1). This sentence proved that kids can like the new healthier lunches standards. That also means that it not just healthy for children, it is effective . The entire day is composed of students being herded in masses to and from classrooms and eating the awful food. America needs to rethink how high schools work, and the best way to start is to allow open-campus lunches. Allowing students to leave campus and purchase their own food gives the students the freedom to make choices. This is a freedom every American has and is the basis of capitalism. Plain and simple, cafeteria food is disgusting.
I say my school should not change the school menu. I find it will not benefit anything with schools changing the menu it would actually make the school go down. Although it would have students eating healthier. there are also some problems with the school changing the menu.
Others refer to kid obesity rates, which have tripled in the U.S. during the 1970s, as stated in the subheading "Keeping it Healthy." Additionally, "one in five American children between the ages of 12 and 19 is dangerously overweight. " The children's health suffers greatly as a result of these school lunches. I disagree with the other side because, although it may result in issues, I think that preparing lunches for students in the cafeteria is somewhat unhealthy.
The school lunch is very unpleasant and letting the students will benefit them more .Sometimes when you are waiting in line you notice an unusual substance dripping off the meat and you’re not even sure what kind of meat they use. The onion rings aren’t even onions, they look and taste more like uncooked potatoes. Crown Point High School should let their students go out of school to grab a bit to eat. Letting their students out to grab a bite to eat would teach them responsibility and let them have some fun.
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
Are School Lunches Really Healthy For You? Imagine going to school and thinking, oh boy what am I going to have for lunch today? And all of the sudden you see something you don’t like, so you don’t eat it and then your stomach starts to growl.
For the past 10 years I have gone to public school. Many times I have come home to telling my mom how bad the food was and that it tasted awful. The food is sometimes overcooked, soggy, and always unhealthy. The public school system spends more time finding the cheap foods rather than the healthy ones. Schools should value the quality of their lunches over the quantity.
Imagine going to lunch and only be offered healthy options. No more of that delicious pepperoni pizza, or even that yummy cheesy bread goodness, instead all they serve is nasty flavorless salads. This is unfair and should be prohibited! Lunch should have many options, not just healthy food. This prevents students from making their own choices, which is a very significant life skill.
The school lunches impacting more than just the schools money, it’s impacting the students education and after school activities just like sports teams. First of all ,students are getting bad grades because they aren’t eating anything at school because the school lunches are disgusting.
