On January 13th, 1999 Hae Min Lee disappeared. Somewhere between 2:15 and 2:36 p.m. that day she was murdered. Four weeks later on February 9th, 1999 her body was found at Leakin Park. On February 28th, 1999 Adnan Masud Syed, Hae’s ex-boyfriend, was arrested and charged with first degree murder. However since his arrest Adnan has maintained his innocence and insists he had no involvement whatsoever in Hae Lee’s murder. Because of the lack of evidence and an untrustworthy source of testimony my stance position stands that Adnan Syed is innocent for the murder of Hae Min Lee. I believe Adnan was used as a scapegoat by Jay Wilds, a “friend” of Adnan's, whose testimony is the bases of the whole case against Adnan. Jay’s testimony is the most suspicious thing in the case because it's inconsistent and doesn’t line up with the timeline that was drawn up, making his testimony unreliable and even unrealistic. But if look at Jay's testimony he doesn’t have an alibi for that time frame. Many argue that it couldn’t possibly have been Jay because he didn’t have any motive to kill Hae, but I can argue he did because after Adnan's and Hae’s breakup Adnan was depressed and probably talked a lot about his feelings to Jay. This could even explain the conversation Jay mentions in his testimony where Adnan, under the influence of marijuana and on emotions, says, “I’m going to kill her [Hae].” But Jay was also under the influence of marijuana and after hearing lots of complaining from Adnan about Hae and the breakup, Jay could have decided to go talk to Hae about it. But the conversation soon turned into a argument, then with some harsh decision making while under the influence, Jay ended up killing
