Human Trafficking is one of the highest growing industries throughout the world. It includes victims of all ages as well as not only women but men and children as well. Many people have wondered how someone would even get involved or become a victim of this horrific industry. The purpose of this paper is to explain how people become a victim, as well as how those become what is known as a trafficker (someone who is the person doing the trafficking).

They often confiscate any identification, documents, and their money. They do not always speak English, know where they are, and often don’t allow their victims from contacting any family or friends. Trust is something they have a hard time with due to the manipulation and control of their trafficker.
Traffickers are those who “lure and ensnare people into forced labor and sex trafficking by manipulating and exploiting their vulnerabilities” (Polaris Project). Their job includes the recruitment, transport, harbor and the exploitation of victims. It is often done by the use of force, threats, lies, and other coercions. They often give false promises like jobs and relationships as well as wonderful experiences. By knowing the different ways, one can help save a life and even keep someone else from being involved either as a victim or a trafficker. Because victims can come from different parts of the world, and for different reasons, it can often be hard to distinguish who is a victim. By learning the different indicators, one can help or save someone who is a victim. If someone knows that someone is in fact being, or could be, a victim, they should report any of their suspicions to their local law enforcement agency by simply calling 911 or they can call the 24 hour NHTRC (National Human Trafficking Resource Center) at 1-888-373-7888 (Coppedge, 2017). These are the two main ways to help a victim or to report any suspicious
