• Jesus is an unavoidable and deeply mysterious figure. We do not know as much about Him as we would like to know. This can make it difficult to grasp what Jesus was about. People found him confusing in His own day and the same is true today. • One major reason we have trouble understanding Jesus is that His world is strange and, to many Westerners, foreign.
A fictional novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, tells the story of a monster created by a mad scientist named Victor Frankenstein. Since a young age, Victor has been captivated by natural philosophy, which has given him a deep-rooted passion for and interest in making something come to life. As a result of two years' work, Victor was able to animate a creature made entirely of dead tissue and limbs, which he named "Wretch." The wretch is described as having yellow eyes, yellow skin with muscles and arteries, black lustrous hair, pearly white teeth, and black lips. Horrified by the sight of the wretch, Victor decides to abandon it, causing the wretch to perform very violent acts that would cause regular humans severe punishments.
One of the most important characters in the entire Bible and narrative of Jesus was John the Baptist. John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus, and he was born to pave the way for Jesus's coming. John was prophesied in Luke chapter 1. An angel appeared to John's father, Zachariah, and the angel told him that John will prepare the people's hearts to turn to Jesus when he came. This is a huge difference between created (spirit beings, Angels) and born (flesh and incarnate Man). Angels were created, but that is it, we were created also, however if we believe in Christ, meaning we gain His character, it is not of blood, flesh or the will of man that we will become children of God, but only because we will be born of God, John 1:12-13. We can do this at death, be resurrected, reborn into God’s family, Angels cannot.
“The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that you may have life, and life to the full,” John 10:10. Although, this verse is found in the New Testament, in my personal opinion is a winning celebration after a long, hard game, and a reminder of the past, but to continue to move forward in the future. Verses like John 10:10, and the well quoted John 3:16, are the reason why we can look back through the first few chapters of the Old Testament, and not get hung up on the troubling times, because a savior came, to be the awaited plot twist. There is only one Jesus. The bible tells of three different accounts of his life. The four gospels are each telling the same story but from a different point of view. Each story is also speaking to different audiences. The authors of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all tell us the same rudimentary story about the life of Christ.
