Martin Luther King Jr was a upstander because he believed in all people should be treated the same. An upstander is when a person stands up for people than cannot stand up for themselves. He was the second child to a family of three born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. At the age 15 he was going to college at Morehouse College where he received a degree in sociology.
Dr. Martin Luther King On April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. James Earl Ray was arrested for the murder of Martin and was convicted to a sentence of 99 years in jail. On the previous day April 3rd Martin was headed to Memphis, Tennessee to deliver his speech known as “I’ve been to the mountaintop”.

On April 4, 1968, just after 6 p.m., Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was fatally shot while standing on the balcony outside of his second story room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. Dr. King was in Memphis supporting a sanitation workers’ strike and was on his way to dinner when a bullet suddenly struck him in the jaw, while he was on the balcony (Day). The bullet struck him in the right jaw, severed his spine and came to rest in his shoulder blade. When he was 15 years old he was the first of being the activist as a pastor. When he was in college at the age of 15 he studied to be pastor of Montgomery,Alabama. The reason why that happened was they were black people who were segregated, and white people were nasty.
In this world there are many leaders, some do not listen to other people and are very stubborn. Others listen to their supporters and critics to make their decisions thus leaving behind their own opinions and thoughts. A strong leader in this century should doggedly stick to their idea because they should not become too flexible and be very strict to apply the correct rules and regulations for a good society. Martin Luther Kind Junior is a very good example of this belief making sure that his voice was heard through his people, and on the other hand George W. Bush did not follow these guidelines. Martin Luther King definitely fits these qualities of a strong leader because he was able to remain loyal to his opinions.

Dr. Martin is a good example for people because he was very strong to let the world know how important seeking for equal right and access for a higher and better life in the U.S. First of all, proponents claim that Martin Luther King is one of the bravest men in world because he kept raising his voice to all people with no fear asking for peace between the African-American and white people.
The great Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. once said “the time is always right to do what is right” which in most cases would be something that he practiced and believed in, that you always have the opportunity to get the right thing done regardless of your standards or situation, Dr. king had a very strong opinion and belief when it came to protesting and expressing disapproval. He believed in doing everything with love and compassion but he still believed that everyone’s opinion should be voiced nonetheless, in this day and age that is something that he would still agree with even with the difference of the generations because the eras and generations are relatively different when it comes down to it and how things are done now are not the same
