Steven Spielberg is one of the most well-known and accomplished directors in Hollywood. He is a major figure of the New Hollywood era and a pioneer of the modern blockbuster. Speilberg is best known for his Academy Awards and is a well-liked movie director. Through the ups and downs in his directing career, he still managed to be successful. Although Steven Spielberg is a man who never put much thought into being a film director as a child, he ended up making it big by winning many awards and continuing to produce films today. Raiders of the Lost of Arc was an instant hit and it rose to the top of film history with a gross of $363 million (Vander Hook, 2010). Raiders of the Lost Ark was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won Best Sound, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Art Direction (Vander Hook, 2010).
