In the Renaissance, the world changed forever. New thinking about humans being the most significant rather than religious figures would have been unheard of in the Middle Ages, but now in this new period, the world has begun to accept this. These new ideas led to them being present in art, leading to a new beginning for art. In “The Last Days of the Renaissance & The March to Modernity” by Theodore Rabb, he discovers that what occurred in the Renaissance changed art permanently. The producers of the film, Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz created the 1975 film and made some additions which changed the role of certain characters throughout the film. Addition is defined as the action or process of adding something to something else. The Renaissance was a period of cultural rebirth in which western society revitalized its interest in classical ideals and expression. This period of rediscovery had origins in the late 13th Century and continued through the 17th century with the peak or “High Renaissance” occurring during the time of Michelangelo around 1500. The Renaissance brought several key characteristics of western cannon back to the forefront of society including an appreciation for the human form and human expression not utilized in the more stoic middle ages. This period also introduced the development of linear perspective, which in conjunction with proper scaling and ratios, allowed new immersive visuals for art pieces. According to Vasari, those stages are: Infancy (Giotto in the 14th cen.), Adolescence (Masaccio in the 15th cen.), and Manhood (Michelangelo in the 16th cen.).
