It occurs mostly to children and adolescent during school, it has a negative effort of their growth and fills their lives with fear. While some might think that bullying is a harmless behavior and it won’t cause any problem, bullying actually has long-term physical and emotional effects on the victims and also the bullies themselves.
The scholarly article from the Journal of School Health, The Nature and Extent of Bullying at School, states that “The highest levels of victimization occurred in elementary schools, with a steady decline in prevalence rates through secondary school.” Since bullying starts at such a young age, it is becoming an issue for students who are younger and younger. School bullying is linked to many social, mental, and physical factors. Additionally, the scholarly article from the Journal of School Health, states that “A relationship also exists between student bullying behavior and school issues such as academic achievement, school bonding, and absenteeism.” As bullying increases at a younger age it is affecting how kids do in school and can be harmful to their learning ability as they get older.
