Adolescents are in a transition from childhood to adulthood that is associated with growth and development in physical, psychological and social domains. With psychological development, an individual is capacitated to plan for future and develop a sense of values and ethical beliefs (American Psychological Association, 2002). Self-identity is evolved building a self-concept regarding their capabilities, appearance, aspirations, goals, interests, and beliefs. Perception towards these attributes, i.e., self-esteem, is enhanced along with ability for logical judgement. This physiological transition prepares an individual for a social role transition, where the person adopts adult social role, including earning, marriage, and parenting. Authoritative parents practice high responsiveness while are moderate in psychological control and demand. Conversely, authoritarian parents have low responsiveness, high demand and moderate psychological control, while permissive parents are highly responsive and low in demanding and psychological control (Darling, 1999). Parenting style is also associated with stresses originating from violence (Levendosky, Leahy, Bogat, Davidson, & von Eye, 2006). Wars and other armed conflicts have significant effects on behaviour, including parenting, of people living in affected societies (Cohen, Zerach, & Solomon, 2011; Samper, Taft, King, & King, 2004). Some of such effects generated by trauma and stresses associated with war tend to persist and have long-term repercussions (Cohen et al., 2011).
